What was Tiny Tim's Ailment?

Given the evidence in the novel, readers and scholars have made several attempts at "diagnosing" Tiny Tim's illness in A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Given the time period, etc. what do you think (or what have you heard) may have been the little boy's trouble?

In the book it said that Tiny Tim was a cripple, so maybe he had something even more serious because of this.
