Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

AMERICAN IDOL -- Season 10

I just finished watching the premiere that took place in New Jersey.  I did not miss Simon.  There is much more compassion this season with the two new judges, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.  There were some emotional scenes with the kick-off as well as hilarious performers.  All in all, "American Idol" still entertains.  I'm glad to see it back.

Hi CasperAZ, I'm glad it's back, too.  I thought I would miss Simon, but I don't, either.  I don't miss the tension that he created, night after night, you never knew what quips he and Ryan would be exchanging...these inside jokes felt uncomfortable.

Jennifer obviously doesn't like to say no, but she's going to have to get a grip.  That wishy-washy attitude will get old, fast.  Steven Tyler lends some straight forward, no nonsense honesty, and humor, to the group.  I'm not a fan of his music, or looking at him...face lift?, but I do think he's added something that was necessary to this trio...Randy is Randy....  I totally love Ellen, on her own show, but in this venue of judging, last year, I thought she fell flat on her face.  It's not for everyone, that's for sure.

A friend of mine's niece tried out for it, in San Francisco, this year.  They have a pre-audition, but as good as they thought her voice was, she just didn't have the forceful personality they were looking for.  You've really got to stand out in a crowd, and these crowds are BIG!  They do pick the ones they want to come before the judges and the TV audience.

Re: AMERICAN IDOL -- Season 10

The ratings are in but unfortunately it's not good news for FOX.  "American Idol" took a 13% drop in the ratings for total viewers as compared to last year's premiere show.  Yikes!  I think the execs at FOX are pulling their hair out.

Kathy S, one great attribute of Steven Tyler is that he is a musician so he can recognize talent.

I know what you mean with Jennifer Lopez being afraid to say, "No."  To me, she seems like a clone of Paula.  I think Jennifer is destined to play the nice judge and her role will be not to offend anybody.
