Reading the excellent biography on Gram Parsons called "Hickory Wind" written by Rolling Stones writer Ben Fong-Torres. You'll remember him from this depiction in the movie Almost Famous. Its gotten me into the Parsons collection, especially his time with The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers. I'm generally not a big fan of country music, or at least the new pop country that has won out, but Parsons was seminal in blending the authentic country sound with the burgeoning electric guitar rock scene that swirled through the decades of the 60's and 70s.
Here are some choice spotlights for those interested.
