Lost Season 6

I figured I'd start a new thread to talk about the next - and final - season of Lost.  I know there are several fans here.  And yes, I'm well aware that it doesn't start until January but there's already a lot of speculation going around and it seems like a good time to start throwing around our ideas for whats going to happen.

Let's kick things off with this promo:

Re: Lost Season 6

I've stuck with the show through the last five seasons and will watch this one as well, but I'm ready for it to be over.

Re: Lost Season 6

Really?  My husband and I watch "Lost" and are not necessarily ready for it to be over, but I think the producers are smart to make a really long story out of it and end on top, rather than go for $$ and make it go on and on 'til the ratings are in the crapper.  The talented cast will be able to move on without ruining the show.

But as for what will happen next, this is one show that really leaves me guessing.  I hate to speculate and actually get it right.  I hate knowing "who done it" when I'm reading a mystery, the same goes for TV and movies.

What do you think will happen?  Will John end up paralyzed again?  Will everyone who's died be alive again?

One popular theory is that it will be a reset of the first season except that the plane won't crash, so we'll follow the Oceanic people as they go on with their lives in LA and as for the Others and Desmond and wheover else is on the island... well, who knows!

Re: Lost Season 6

Did anyone see the promotional snippet for LOST: The Final Season on ABC last night?  Things begin again on February 2.  Oooh!  So excited!

I don't like it when they advertise things so far in advance - when the ad starts, I get all excited because I think it is coming up soon, and then they crush me.  I've also seen ads for 24 already, which is starting in January.

Re: Lost Season 6

So, the last season ended with them trying to reset everything, right? I honestly don't think it will work...if they do make it so they never board the plane, can the producers really make a whole scene out of it? Here's my theory (and I hope it makes sense to everyone...) Okay, remember how before Ben killed the "ruler of the island" he said "They're coming" ? I have a feeling that the "they" the ruler of the island was referring to is Hurley, Jack, and all of those people stuck in the 70's. But knowing Lost, I'm sure they'll come up with something new and crazy that none of us could have predicted.

I do know what you mean.  I'm glad you mentioned 24.  I was wondering when it starts!

Yeah, if the nuclear bomb really "resets" the future then it would not only keep the plane from crashing but - I think - would mean most of them would not have a reason for being on the flight in the first place.  They'd all be leading seperate lives in different parts of the world and not even know one another, which I really doubt is something the producers would do even though that's what some of the really early promos seem to suggest.

Re: Lost Season 6

I know there are a ton of theories out there, but I just wanted to throw this one out there and see what you guys think.  I think Jacob's enemy/rival could be the smoke monster, and here's why.

First off, the John Locke that was alive and that told Ben to kill Jacob seems to be Jacob's rival from the beginning of the last episode of season 5.  This Locke says that he found a loophole, which is exactly what the rival said he was looking for.  Also with Locke's body really being in that container the whole time, it's obvious that the Locke that's walking around is not actually John Locke.

Second, the smoke monster (looking like Alex) told Ben that he had to do everything that John Locke said, which is very convenient if Locke is the rival/smoke monster and needs Ben to kill Jacob.

Third, if I'm right, the rival/smoke monster (looking like Locke) is actually the one that told Richard to tell the real Locke that he was going to have to die in order to bring everyone back.  So the real Locke thought that he needed to die, but in reality it was just the rival/smoke monster influencing him to kill himself in order to obtain his body so it could be used to kill Jacob.

We already know that the smoke monster can imitate people, and I don't know what else could cause there to be two John Lockes.

Implications:  If the rival really is the smoke monster, then could Jacob be something similar? Perhaps a cloud of while smoke to keep with the show's theme of duality?

Problems:  Did the fake Locke ever see the smoke monster in season 5? If they were ever on screen at the same time, that would disprove my theory.  They were close when Ben was threatened by the smoke monster/Alex, but it's very possible the the rival/smoke monster just quickly moved around.

I hope this makes sense to someone haha I typed it and even I'm pretty confused

Those are all great but the Locke poster in particular is just pure genius

Re: Lost Season 6

Hey guys, check in here on the A&E board if you want to live tweet and leave thought on the season premiere. I'm hoping to be in front of the TV/computer for tonight's show. If there's enough interest it might be a good idea to start episode threads.

Loved the premiere, of course.

"It worked?"  Miles is precious!

Is Sayid the new "Jacob?"

Re: Lost Season 6

Interesting!  What, did they split in two somehow and are living in parallel universes at the same time?  It's been a long time since the beginning of the series, but some anomalies in the flight passenger list (if I'm correct) did bother me.  Desmond shouldn't have been there, and Boone's sister should have, right?  Seeing Charlie and Kate led off in handcuffs and Locke depressed in his wheelchair, you have to wonder if they're better off or not.

Locke as the Smoke Monster (or vice versa) was very interesting.  Ben is a quivering bug-eyed mess.

Are the group at the temple actually The Others, or are they an entirely different group?

And I'm glad that Sayid isn't dead.

The female leader of the temple folk was the flight attendant, Amy, of Flight 315 that successfully landed in LAX last night.  remember way back when a bunch of people disappeared in the night and the survivors thought it was "The Others" that took them?  Um, no - they knew the plane was going to crash (I think, don't know for sure) to get to Jacob.

Yeah, Ben is a bit of a mess, but I'm sure he'll find some way to screw with everyone again, trying to gain control.  I'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride!

Re: Lost Season 6

I wonder if they're going to be flashing between the two realities for the whole season? It looks like Sawyer is going to back and dig up Juliette now that Sayid has popped back up to join the living. And of course Locke as the smoke monster is just the best.
