I think that while movies based on TV series may not live up to the original, they do draw attention to the original. For example: I hadn't even heard of Firefly until I saw Serenity and after watching Get Smart (the movie) I watched the original on youtube.

On the other side the worst TV to movie I have ever seen : Dead Like Me. It was one of my favorite shows, but it was an awful movie.

Going to have to disagree with you there. I liked the movie ending of "dead like me". I missed the characters. It was a nice warm ending that the end of second 2 did not give.

I totally agree that the Firefly series made a GREAT movie! I wish there was more like that around!

Wonderful news.  I hope the studios will decide to stop funding Will Ferrell movies now.

You know what's so funny about all of this? Over the weekend, Chiller TV had a Land of the Lost marathon on and, while I was pulling baby feeding duty in the wee hours of morning, I watched a few episodes and I loved it!

When it comes to just about anything, there's nothing like the original!

I agree with Jon. Someone needs to put a stop to anyhting with Will Ferrell in it. He's never made a movie I wanted to watch. I knew Land of the Lost would be crap.  Wish they'd quit trying to ruin my childhood memories with that kind of stuff.

On a lighter note does this thread speak also for childhood toys? I saw they are working on development of a movie based around the gumby-like space guy Major Matt Mason. Really! This was a great (at the time) 6"-9" rubber spaceguy with bendable wire inside (for lifelike posin' don'tcha know). Loved that toy. Can't imagine how they make a movie out of it, but there it is.

Paul if you've got NetFlicks, they put all of the episodes up for free watch. Slestack your brain away.

At least Will Ferrell won't be in the big screen adaptation of A-Team.  Instead it looks like it will be Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson.

Amusingly enough I saw the article whilst on my normal website rounds on the SciFi Channel website. Since when did the A-Team fit into that genre?! Neeson must have some contractual obligation and is stuck with this dog. I thought the original was dopey, a remake could only be worse. Blech!

I'm not so sure.  To my way of thinking this is one TV show that may actually benefit from a movie remake.  The action will be bigger (fights, explosions, and the like), they have a longer period of time to set up the story.  As long as they don't try to make a comedy out of this, which is were I think a lot of remakes go wrong, I think it may be ok.

(shaking head) I don't know I liked the A-Team as a kid till somewhere first season when I noticed you could build a battlecrusier with all the bullets fired during the episode and yet no one got shot.

....and no one ever had to re-load. Kinda like the G.I. Joe cartoon where the goal was, apparently, just to destroy the other guy's stuff. Massive explosions and no one even gets a nasty bruise.

Well with a cartoon that's one thing, and with G.I.Joe a few characters did die(around ses3). But for a "real" show, cartoonic violence is just way too silly for pretime shows.

Yep they're currently casting, and recording music as we speak. No, you're not weird. I got a little bouncy at the thought myself.

Are you talking about the cartoon on the average girls that change to a big haired, lots of makeup cool band?  I wonder what the movie would be about?

God, I completely forgot about this cartoon.  I use to watch it all the time when I was younger.
