Re: What are you listening to right now?

Patti Labelle had a cameo in Idlewild! :smileywink:

I'm currently listening to Shadowboxin, off GZA's classic album Liquid Swords.  GZA is only a decent rapper but RZA's production on this album is fabulous, some of the best beats of the 90's here.

She's called Santigold now, because of a legal threat from a jeweler who does infomercials.

I guess we should update our product pages!

Indeed but the album is still Santogold. On every web site not just yours. But I was surprised it came up in the product list anyway, it's usually 6 months behind CD releases at the very least.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Been listening to a lot of Devotchka lately. They're real unique, almost undescribable. Think Klezmer New Wave.

Supermelodrama is my favorite of album of theirs but you may know them from the soundtrack to Little Miss Sunshine.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I'm currently listening to the soundtrack to 28 Days Later - a really nice mix of ambient music and dark post-rock, mostly by John Muprhy but also featuring Godspeed! You Black Emperor and others.

Today it's Peace, by the Eurythmics.  Annie Lennox is such an amazing singer.  I think I hear some Beatles influence in some songs on this album.

Right now I'm listening to "Feeling Good" by Michael Buble on his It's Time cd. =)

It's Time

The persons of their world lived in an atmosphere of faint implications and pale delicacies, and the fact that he and she understood each other without a word seemed to the young man to bring them nearer than any explanation would have done.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Listening to a steady diet of The Gaslight Anthem's '59 Sound to get myself geared up for a thoroughly unpleasant and unwanted eight-hour drive at the end of the week. TGA is like Springsteen played at a constant punk beat, and it makes for excellent driving music, plus even with songs about wounds and pain, it's hard not to tap your feet and beat your steering wheel.

Plus, the lyrics aren't bad, either. Here's "Great Expectations"

Mary, this station is playing every sad song.
I remember like we were alive.
I heard it Sunday morn' from inside of these walls.
In a prison cell, where we spent those nights.
And they burnt up the diner where I always used to find her.
Licking young boys blood from her claws.
And I learned about the blues from this kitten I knew.
Her hair was raven and her heart was like a tomb.
My heart's like a wound.

I saw tail lights last night in a dream about my first wife.
Everybody leaves and I'd expect as much from you.
I saw tail lights last night in a dream about my old life.
Everybody leaves, so why, why wouldn't you?

I hadn't seen that CD before, Ryan.  I have four albums by her, but don't have all the names of the songs memorized.

Diva

Medusa

Bare

Songs of Mass Destruction

Is there anything else on the Collection?  I didn't take to Bare as much as the others, for some reason.  Maybe when I get home I'll listen to it again.

I have the video of her concert in Central Park, too.  I think she is an amazing singer!

No, Paul, I haven't seen that one, but it looks great.  Sounds like a good use for my 15% off B&N coupon.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

rrrrr,  her highness (me) is quite cranky this morning.  Shared my morning commute with the world's worst drivers and all around stupidest people.  So far I've stared at the ceiling tiles, consumed a mocha and blueberry muffin, thumbed thru an Avon catalog and listened to:

Blood Money

Knight's Tale

Maybe she needs something nice and soothing...
