Teen Dream

  

"Teen Dream" is the newest Beach House record. The title is apt because this whole album is like remembering your first kiss, quitely in your room, with your head on a pillow. Male and female vocals trade off on the songs.

Fantastic Mr. Fox [Soundtrack]

  

Soundtracks aren't normally my thing unless Wes Anderson makes them. This one is no exception. The instrumentals from the movie are bright and charasmatic, and there are some great old songs from the likes of Burl Ives, The Beach Boys, Art Tatum, and The Rolling Stones.

That new Beach House album that MichaelN mentions is one of the best albums from last year, IMO.  Really well done, nostalgic without being cheesy about it.  Like Cocteau Twins crossed with Chris Isaac, with a dash of Mazzy Star.

Lookbook is in kind of a similar vein but more electronic and a bit darker.  I like them a lot too.  They're from Minneapolis.
