Why are so many people (including myself) unable to read .pdf files on the Nook Color? It's advertised that we can. I have software version 1.4.1. All I get when trying to open one (yes, I sideloaded them from my pc via Adobe Digital Editions) is:
"Complete action using: Quickoffice Lite or Reader. Neither works. When trying to open, it brings up:
"Error Dialog Sorry, cannot open this book"
I have contacted BN several times via phone and chat both. I have repeated all the same actions with them, followed their directions, done the same things with them that I've done on my own with attempting to read .pdf files. Only one rep told me there was a "software fix in the works" for the problem. Others I've talked/chatted with assure me "I'll make sure to write a note on this!" WHAT is going on? I see the issue all over these forums, with no answers.

"I wonder whether the problem is not reading pdf files ~ the bundled software reads pdf files just fine for me ~ but reading pdf files that have digital rights management, like library pdf ebooks. That is, either Quickoffice unable to get past the DRM, ADE has a flaw in how it massages the DRM for Quickoffice, or ADE thinking its managing the DRM for the built in B&N ereader and the B&N DRM system instead of the bundled QuickOffice reader software"
Thank you! I only wish that I could have heard this answer in my many attempts to find a resolution via phone and chat with BN reps. What I did was download a pdf file directly to the Nook Color, and it worked fine... the same file that was transferred from my documents to the ADE, then sideloaded from there to the NC (and consequently not working) worked just fine with a direct download to the NC. Wow, I wonder why I even bothered using ADE at all! I don't think the file had DRM since it was a public domain ebook.
Thanks much!
