Is it Safe to buy from Barnes & Noble?

I was wondering with the Nook tablets no longer being made by B&N is it safe to buy books from the Nook Store still?

I'd hate to lose the books if they are shutting down Nook Tablet production?

B&N is still making the amazing Nook Simple Touch so they'll still need the Store for that.

B&N says they won't make new color tablets THEMSELVES but they want to find a partner to make them and put "Nook by {name}" on them.  They'll need a store for that.

And, even if they change their mind and give it all up and go out of business...Kobo bought the Borders' store and transfered all previous purchases over when Borders went out of business.  Someone will do the same to capture all the Nook business going forward.

Keep calm and make backups.

Google has never produced their own devices, yet no one is afraid to buy from them, so...

Download Nook for PC or Nook Study. Log into your account. Download copies of your books for backup purposes. Make a note of the cc# being used for reference (should you need to sideload to another device.)

Backing up your content purchases from any vendor is just a good computer practice. You should be doing it anyway. So yes, it is "safe" to buy from B&N.
