Is there a way to bypass entering a credit card number for books already purchased?

I was given a Nook first edition with a few books already downloaded to it. It now asks me for the name and credit card number to read the books. Is there any way to bypass this or have them under my account so I can read them since I don't have her credit card number.

If the Nook is still registered to your friend, you should be able to archive and then unarchive the books.

However, if the device is registered to your account with the books sideloaded, you'll have to get the CC number from her, or have your friend input it the next time you see her.  The only way to have them under your account would be to purchase them yourself.
