I tried to power down, but it won't even shut off. I am not sure what else to do. Do you think a software update might help? The battery life is under 50%, could that be why??

There haven’t been a lot of reports of frozen NOOKcolors, but this is what Technical Support told me to do when mine froze:
1. Plug your NOOKcolor into a wall outlet.
2. Press and hold the "n" button.
3. Press and hold the power button for 15 – 20 seconds.
4. Turn it back on, if necessary.
