Nook Simple Touch- Connecting to Internet; Will Not Download

Hi All,

I am currently experiencing a problem where my Nook Simple Touch is connecting to the internet but will not download books to my library. I only get a connecting message; there is no status bar over the cover art though. I "chatted" with a staff member online earlier and we went through the process- restarting, shutting off WiFi, and even wiping the device. The person I was "chatting" with suggested that the store was experiencing a problem and that within 24 hours I would be able to download my purchases, but I'm still concerned.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Any suggestions about what to do?

Thea

The connection seems to be working now. I downloaded another book and it worked on my nook right away. I restarted it and the two books that previouslyy woudln't download finally did.

A temporary work around is to use the Nook app for your computer to download the books (this works just tested it) and load them on to your Nook.

I am having the same issue with my Nook Simple Touch. They download fine on my nook app for my phone and ipod, but not on the actual nook. I tried deleting the books from my computer and then re-downloading them, but it still came up with the same "connecting" issue.

B&N servers are down. You can download to any other device app, like Nook for PC, iPad or Android, but not to a Nook itself. Supposed to be fixed in 24-48 hours.

I'm having a similiar problem with my Nook Color.  I purchased some books this afternoon and they still won't download.  I don't get an error message either.  I have the same issue (I only get a connecting message; there is no status bar over the cover art though).  I did everything you did as well and it didn't work.  I'm out of other ideas, guess I'll just have to wait a while.

I'm having the same problem with my 1st gen nook. It can connect to the internet well enough to search but downloading triggers the "check your Internet connection" message. I did disconnect it's Internet & reconnect it, also tried turning it on and off. It really seems that the problem is at B&Ns end. Do we have any reason to think that someone who can do something about this at the company is aware of the scope of the problem? It's not a big shopping weekend to justify the servers just being overwhelmed. Something's going on, it seems.

Clearly there's something wrong with the B&N servers, so we can't download to Nooks but can download to any other apps. If the customer service people try having you go through all the reset procedures they're just wasting your time.

I'm having the same issue.  I bought the book yesterday, and still haven't been able to get it on the NOOK.  I've archived/unarchived the book, shut down and restarted the device, reset my router, and STILL not able to get the book to download.

Based on the various threads in the forums in the last day it seems there are at least a few other people having issues with the servers. I saw one thread where people were having problems with magazines.
