Fix for Shop button not working on 1st Ed

Over the past few weeks, since B&N made some changes to the Shop interface, 1st Edition w/ 3G haven't been able to access the Shop, either through 3G or through wireless. Eventually, we have been advised by customer service to unregister, restore to factory settings (aka "delete all"), and reregister. This is an unacceptable solution when one will lose 300-400 books all nicely shelved and with highlights and notes. Shelves and notes are not maintained. (Not acceptable either, but that's another FUBAB.)
What IS appearing to work, from numerous testimonials on the technical discussion forum, is going into a Barnes and Noble, powering off, powering on, and accessing the B&N in-store network and store. This also appears to resolve a separate problem with covers not appearing.
Would you please forward this alternate (and usually more acceptable) solution to the technical staff?
