What is happening with the free friday books? I have not gotten one in 3 weeks. My cousin has not gotten one in two weeks now...Are they going to discontinue this or what?

They have been there every week.
What do you mean by "gotten?"
They are not automatically loaded to your account. Do you mean there hasn't been a promotional ad for them on the device itself when you look at it? I don't really find it that way, so I can't speak to that.
They are always posted on the B&N Blog here: http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/The-NOOK-Bl

Without explination the "Free Friday" notices are no longer appearing in the promotions box at the bottom of the First Edition's main "Shop" page. That was a significant convenience, as it included the ability to initiate the "purchase" process with a single tap. The last couple of weeks I've had to record the author or title from the blog and tap out that information on those tiny virtual keyboard squares to conduct a search. The author's name needs to be complete unless you want an excessively long list of books by multiple authors. I've not seen any indication the search function is any smarter than the typical search, where if you don't spell everything exactly right you won't get the desired results.

Or you could just read the blog post onlibne and click on the "picture" (icon) of the book.
You go right to the book.

Yes, I mean that there is no promotional ad on my Nook Simple Touch and my cousin in another state has not gotten a notice about the free Friday books either.

That's what I thought. While it's nice for them to feature the Free Fridays in that promotional space, keep in mind that it is just that promotional space. So it only makes sense that B&N would use it to promote items that generate revenue.
Be thankful that B&N only uses it for it's own uses and doesn't whore it out like the ad-sponsored Kindles.

Yes, I understand that and I agree with you also, but it would be nice if they would have let us know that the free book would not be listed there any longer. Some of us do not go into the blogs and other pages on the web site, I must admit, I do now, but I never did before.

I've always gotten there by doing a search for "free book friday" and nook books.
(this is on the web page)
