Love my Simple Touch; Dictionary suggestions; other

I really love my new simple touch. I agree that some enhancements would really be wonderful. My wish list:

1. I'd love a new dictionary. I really get annoyed when looking up a word, only to find the definition is just a cognate of the word! For example:  "Perfidious" gives me something like "one who acts with perfidity". That's kind of a no brainer, but I want to know what a word means. Many others like this have come up in my reading.

Then I'd love to be able to look a word up, but the Nook doesn't have that ability.

So, please B&N, research a new and better dictionary. My Mac dictionary (New Oxford American) or something like that would be ideal as it gives a nicer concise Origin and even a Thesaurus. You would make this in my opinion, a far better reader with a new dictionary.

2. In the same vein, it won't recognize a word if it is hyphenated. So it becomes a pain to have to change the font size until it becomes un-hypenated in order to look it or even to highlight it!

3. Is there any way to highlight a passage that continues onto the next page? I wanted to Share a passage with someone and I could not get the whole section because it continued onto the next page. Do I also have to change the font size to super small to get it all on one page?

If someone knows anything differently please let me know.

I'm sure there are other great enhancements to be made, but overall, I love my Simple Touch, I carry it all the time, even take it on bike rides so I can rest and read. My wife is a bit jealous because I'm reading all the time now! Better get her one too.

Re: Love my Simple Touch; Dictionary suggestions; other

I am totally in agreement with DrCharlie.

1. For a term like "visualisation" the dictionary tells me that it is the British spelling of "visualization'". Why not let me select a word in the dicitonary to look it up? Or scroll around the word in the dictionary, or both (like kindle)? I steer students and non-native speakers away from the nook solely because of the dictionary.

2. Been there, done that. Other readers have their own problems with hyphenation.

3. When I change font size to highlight across a page boundary, the nook changes my place in the book. A few font size changes and my nook wanders to the beginning of the chapter. Granted, changing font size is not an optimal way to highlight across pages, but the nook should keep the first word on the page the same through any font changes.

It would be nice to be able to purchase a new dictionary and somewhere in the settings select a dictionary. I also enjoy reading foreign language books on my nook but would like to be able to look up works on the nook and not a separate dead tree book or on the computer.

Dictionary word continued look up

It would be nice to be able to look up words in a definition (in a dictionary entry).  As in the examples given above it would be nice to follow a dictionary thread from "the British spelling of . . . " to the entry of the British spelling.  Just by touching.  It is nice to have a dictionary and there is a lot of room for improvement.
