Problems with NOOK 1st Edition v1.6 software update

Has anyone successfully installed this update?
I've had my Nook for a little over two months. When I first received it, I updated it to v1.5 with no problems, then installed an 8GB MicroSD card with little trouble, except for having to remove and reinstall the card once before it was properly recognized. It's been working fine ever since.
Today I noticed there was a new firmware v1.6. It showed a release date of June 6th, and I couldn't find any negative comments about it...in fact I could barely find any mention of it at all. So I dutifully installed the update on my Nook, only to find that my MicroSD card is now shown with a capacity of 242MB...and fails to show any of its contents in My Documents.
After 'checking for new content', removing and reseating the card, and doing the 20 second reboot of the Nook, I contacted B&N tech support. After restating my symptoms, the tech said that this failure to read the card properly is a known issue with the v1.6 software and is being addressed. They won't give an ETA, only saying to watch the website for the fix.
What really irks me is that they haven't pulled the v1.6 update OR posted a warning on the site! Is this typical of B&N support for the Nook(s)?

With 1.6 your nook cannot see any SD card over 2GB.

And not to pile on, but you state you searched to see if there were any problems with this update...you obviously didn't search this board because there are several active threads AND the announcement from BN about the problem that pre-date your post by several days (they are all basically from the very day the update became available).

does anyone else have a sudden problem with internet? It says browser closed unexpectantly for about three seconds then goes back to my home page. How do I fix this?
