Wishlist Problems

Alex, I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything here, but is B&N purposely trying to make it difficult to purchase Nookbooks?

1.  The add to wishlist function on the website doesn't work for Nookbooks and it hasn't for a while.  Supposedly "they" are aware of it and are working on fixing it, but it's been at least more than a month now, if not longer.

2.  Neither the NST, Nookcolor or Nook for Android wishlists sync with the website wishlist.  They makes no sense, the N1E did without any problems.  Why would anyone want to keep multiple wishlists?  And, if the wishlist is on the device only and something happens, you loose your wishlist entirely.

3.  You cannot access the wishlist from the mobile site, only the default wishlist.  You can't add books to any wishlist from the mobile site.  So if I want to browse the mobile site I can, but I can't add anything to the wishlist.  And yes, I know I can browse from shop if I'm on the Nook, but then it only adds it to the device wishlist.

It just seems like B&N is trying to make the purchasing process as difficult as possible when one would think they would try and make it very easy for me to purchase books.

I love my Nook(s), I don't have any problems with any of them, but I find the way the wishlist works completely annoying.

DITTO!!!!!!!!!

I spent several hours with Customer Service (even the name is a joke) and they had no clue.  I have found that library books work pretty well and in the past couple of months B & N has lost a bunch of sales.  I just tried to add another book this evening (stupid me) and the same result nothing.  I'll wait and check it out from the library.  Too bad that B & N can't at least put out information and keep people posted on the progress rather than letting us think that they don't care.

Re: Wishlist Problems

As I've noted elsewhere, the wishlists have been messed up for some time and it sucks! I actually do use them to manage my purchasing.

To make it simple:

They make it easy for me to give my money to B&N in the most effective way possible, so having them broken reduces the chances B&N will get some of my money at any given time.

So, really:

Fixing the wishlists = making it easier for me to shop = more money for B&N

How's that for a motivator to just fix the d**n problem?!

Doesn't seem to be much of a motivator, as it's been complained about a lot and they've yet to fix it.

Re: Wishlist Problems

Just got off a "Customer Support" chat for another issue, and decided to mention the wishlist problems while I was there.  Totally stonewalled on both issues.  Just a bunch of "we understand your frustrations" and "a report has been filed".

So I have two questions:

1)  Obviously, they rolled out some website changes that caused this issue.  Why not roll back to the previous (functional) version until they can fix it?

2)  Why, in this "Ask Your Community Manager" board, are we not getting any answers (or even comments) from our community manager?

...and one piece of info:

1)  The site eBooks.com has ePUB books.  And it works.  Their prices aren't always as low as B&N's, but if you're inclined to vote with your wallet, as I am, it's an option.

Sony and Kobo also sell .epubs.

Re: Wishlist Problems

Hey, how do you even download a library book onto the Simple Touch?  I borrowed a library book (ebook) but can't see it anywhere on the nook or my nook website?  It is no where to be found, but sitting in my pdf files.  UGH!

Re: Wishlist Problems

Hey, totally the wrong thread for this.

First, you will need ADE on your desktop/laptop. You will use that to transfer the file to your Nook.

If you need more info (surprised your library doesn't have something posted) try that snazzy search box in the upper right corner for terms like "ADE" and "library lending". If it doesn't get you to a thread that seems appropriate, try creating one in the General Discussion or Technical Support sections, rather than piggybacking on whatever random thread you hit upon first.

B&N does not currently support direct, OTA transfer of library books.

Re: Wishlist Problems

Hey All,

Though this may appear to be a hollow statement considering the length of time you all have endured this issue. But, we are aware of this issue and are working to have it resolved asap.

On behalf of B&N and myself, I sincerely apologize for all the trouble you've had with your wishlists. I hope to have better news to report to you shortly.

Click the Laurel leaf to say thank you for helpful posts. And be sure to come back to click the 'Accept as Solution' button for the post that solved your issue. This may help someone else.

Re: Wishlist Problems

In the overall scheme of things, I would far rather see some acknowledgement from B&N that they are working on the WiFi router issue.  I consider myself lucky that I only have to deal with it when visiting certain relatives, but I would think that should be top priority.  Fixing the wish lists and shelving would be, IMO, the next priorities.

It's more than likely a completely different group of people.  The problem is the wishlist function on the website, not on the Nook.  The folks who maintain the website are not the same folks who would be looking into things like the WiFi issues on the Nook.  So there shouldn't be any conflicting priorities.

Re: Wishlist Problems

Conflicting or not, I'd still like to see some acknowledgement from B&N that they consider the router issue a priority item and are working on it.
