Interesting Perspective Into The World of Working In Retail
Status: Bookseller Picks
After working in retail stores for almost 23 years now, one thing I've learned is that . . . you've never seen it all even though you some times think you have. Malled provides an interesting perspective from a professional journalist who decided to take on the "easy" (or so she thought) job in a store for some steady income. Caitlin provides an interetsing perpective into the realities of these unique work environments. For any long-time retail person, it can be insightful and also comical. A great read for any retail manager as well leaving you asking the question ,"Do I do that sometimes?"
Retail work and the stories surrounding those experiences/jobs can some times lean towrd the negative, but there are amazing positive components as well that often get over-looked. Retail careers are like no other in terms of the variety of experience and exposure to various aspects of the business world a person receives. From the never-ending stream of new people and experiences you encounter day in and day out at often times a break-neck pace, you rarely find the "dull moment". It is a unique opportunity to learn and grow every day and valuable lessons that are very applicable to a variety of jobs and careers outside of retail.
Fun and insightful read. Check it out.

I think I may pick up a copy for myself, as well as my manager. I work at Walgreens. For someone that thinks they have seen it all, like the author said. No, you have not until you start working in retail.
