Was Carrie Bradshaw different in high school than her "Sex in the City" years?

The Carrie Diaries  My first thought when I saw this book coming was - uh oh...

I really enjoy reading Candace Bushnell's adult books .  Young Carrie is very similar to the older version we are so familiar with - lacking confidence and wondering if she has it in her to become a writer while dealing with all the typical issues of teens today- where to go to school, how to get away with drinking, ditching school and staying out past curfew as well as when to lose her virginity and handling all her friends drama.  We also see how she begins her legacy of wanting the "bad boy".  It is a fun story and there are some valuable lessons learned but they are for older teens.

I've only read the free sample of The Carrie Diaries, and I was wondering if someone would mind lending me the nookbook? I would be grateful!
