Is Mikael an ethical journalist? Do you find any of the novel's characters to be truly ethical?

I think he tries to be ethical. Did he do the right thing with not divulging the Vanger family secret? Lisbeth is a hacker but she tries to do the right thing, by making sure the families of the victims would be compensated, though I don't think anything can replace families knowing what happened to their loved ones.

The idea of whether to expose Harriet or not, to keep Martin's crimes a secret for the sake of the family and the Vanger Corp raises a lot of ethical questions on all sides. Who do you decide to harm - the families who have already lost the women or Harriet who has been suffering for 40 years? Ethical dilemma! Mikael's struggle with keeping guiet shows that he is ethical.
