I just borrowed a book from the library to read with my little ones. It is a children's bilingual book. It is called People Las Personas. I am thinking if we learn these names then they can use them with people we see everyday.

HURRAY...I received the Behind the Wheel:  Spanish today...can't wait to start it and will probably listen some this weekend just to check it out!!

I just got my Behind the Wheel today, Monday, and I'm on the West Coast. It is the Express version with 3 CDs and a book with 8 lessons. The book, however, has the transcript of all 8 CDs. The package was mailed by Macmillian via the US Mail. I don't have time to preview it now but I will check back later. Looks like those who did not get a free copy should buy the Express.

Behind the Wheel Express - Spanish 1

  

This is the version of the Behind the Wheel Spanish we are receiving. Those of you who want to participate in the class and were not lucky enough to get one of the free ones, might want to order this. According to the press release, the class will run from July 12 through August 6.

I got my Behind the Wheel Spanish today.  Can't wait.

If you are looking for a book in Spanish to read to children I can recommend Los Tres Pequenos Jabalies by Susan Lowell.  It is the Spanish version of The Three Little Pigs.  The illustrations are WONDERFUL, and its in both Spanish and English.

You may also want to check out Laugh 'n' Learn Spanish by Lynn Johnston and Brenda Wegmann.  They use the "For Better or for Worse" cartoon series.  Again, its in Spanish and English.

Between Audio books (sorry, I use Audible.com-don't hate me), my nook, and dead trees, I read/listen to a bunch of stuff at the same time.  Unfortunately my Spanish isn't yet good enough to even attempt to read a book completely in that language but I hope to some day.

Hi Everyone,

  Here is a website that will send you a "Word of the Day" in the language you choose. I have used it for Italian for a while, and just added Spanish about a week ago. You hear a native speaker say the word and use it in a sentence. (I didn't see this suggestion and hope I didn't miss it.)

Great site, Donna! I've got my "disfrutar" down. Pronunciation, sentence, and past, present, and future conjegations. I notice that they have a blog that has a daily lesson. Today's was a video featuring greetings:

I found this site that is great for Spanish comprehension. Not all the topics have audios (just written stuff) but most do have the audio. You get a short form of the topic and then, once you have that down, there is a long form to listen to. There is both a Spanish and English transcript to get you started but eventually you should just listen.

There are about 45 of these cultural dialogs. They may be a bit difficult for beginners. Too hard for me right now but I figure I will grow into them once I learn a bit more Spanish. But some of you more advanced people might find this just the thing to improve your Spanish comprehension. It is Latin American Spanish.

Thanks, Nadine! One of the things they told us when I took an Italian class a few years ago was to listen to the language. Even if we don't understand everything, we can pick up inflections and pronunciation tips. I search for radio stations, etc., to help with that. This site will also help.

I just found an audio that uses the same sentence building procedure in our Behind the Wheel textbook. The whole course is expensive but there are around 50 minutes of free lessons you can listen to that will jump-start learning Behind the Wheel Spanish. The free lessons are in five 10 minute sessions that you can listen to online or download to your MP3 or CDs.
