Hey Meg,
My name is Mitali, and my friends call me Mia....well some do, but the point is, that I got that name because of the Princess Diaries series.I've read all of them.
The thing is I read all the time. I can read 3 books a day and I've read most of your books.
The whole Princess diaries series, Queen of Babble , Avalon High,The "Boy" Series,All American Girl,Teen Idol, Pants On Fire etc.
Suffice it to say, that I love your work.
Personally I think Avalon High is your best work ever.
I love the way you have incorporated the legend of King Arthur and Tennyson's The Lady Of Shallot in the plot.
I've always wondered if the story was true, and after reading Avalon High, I looked it up again.
So my question to you is... What made you want to write a novel such as Avalon High?
How did you think to write about it?What gave you the idea?
I have the book and i read it atleast once a month, and everytime I re-read it , it simply amazes me.
Thank you for being such and amazing writer.![]()
I will always remain a fan!.
Love,
Mitali
ps.. It might not be the right place to mention it, but I write a bit, and I have my own blog, and I would love to have you see it.
p.p.s. Are you going to be in NYC for any book-readings or anything of the sort?

- Is that true that you're coming to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil? (Oh, please come! You've no idea of how many great fans you have here!! Even the ones who doesn't like reading are enchanted by your stories!!!)
- How do you feel, knowing that people read you all around the world in several languages? Did you ever expected this sucess?
Ok... I thing I asked TOO much... Better say goodbye before you give up answering me... lol...

Meg,
I read your September 11th post, and I wanted to thank you. When you mentioned how long it has been I thought, It has been seven years! and yet it feels like yesterday. I'm glad you're keeping the link to your post active- I think maybe some people have forgotten the horror of that day, and I don't think it should be forgotten. Our young people, who might have been too young to remember, or shielded from it by their parents, need to know what it was like. At 8:46 this morning, I bowed my head. Flags were flown at half-staff, and I wonder if people had to stop and think about why. I hope not.
Thanks again,

Dear Meg Cabot,
I am a HUGE fan of your YA books! You write about things that rarely happen in real life, and that's why I love them! I enjoy reading your blog and when it said that we could chat with you, it made my day. I have a few pretty random questions for you, I don't know if you can answer all of them but here we go. How did you get the idea to write about a brain-transpant in a model? Will Em tell Christopher who she is, it's killing me??? Will you write any more about Mia after the tenth book comes out? Will you write anything else about Samantha Madison? Will you ever write any more historical fiction novels? I really enjoy those. Is He Who Shall Not Be Named In This Blog your husband? What made you want to become an author and what did you major in to help you do that? Do you have any children? I think that's all I can think of you for now. Keep Writing!!! I will never get enough of your books!!!!!!
Sincerly,
Elizabeth
P.S. I failed Algebra 1 like Mia and now do not feel like an outcast because of it!

Hi Connie,
I've read your posts long enough on B&N to say with certainty: Go for it! I think you have what it takes!
And I'll be looking for you at my local B&N bookstore.

Meg,
I have to admit, right now as I am writing this, I am having a Moment.
Without sounding too crazy and obsessed, you are my favorite author and have influenced me in so many ways. In fact, it is largely because of you that I write how I write; whenever I get stuck in a case of 'ok, now what can I say?' I usually pick up one of your books and take a time out, just reading and relaxing. And it helps--your sense of humor is honest and imaginative, and your characters are very real to me. Heather Wells is now one of my heroes.
But what intrigues me most about you is that you are an individual. You have such a distinctive way of writing that it even comes out in your blog--which is hilarious, by the way--and it makes me smile and think, I think we could be friends. I, too, love the pop culture world, really great shoes, and cats (although mine is three-legged, not one eyed). I love turning on my computer and seeing that you've posted something new, because I know I'm in for a laugh, a deep thought, and usually an OMG moment.
I am preparing to send out my first query letters (thank you for posting the Jeff Herman Guide to Publishers, Editors, etc. on your website--I bought the book and it was a tremendous help!), so maybe when I get published (no room for if, people, I'm thinking positive!) I will be able to meet you someday. Here's hoping!
Oh, and by the way, I'm pretty sure that Big Boned is one of the funniest, most wonderful books you've ever written, and I'm literally beside myself with glee that you decided to write a fourth and fifth one. Brava!
One last thought...I'm a big fan of your historical romances, too. Any plans to venture back to that genre? I love your modern stuff, but those were very enjoyable.
Enjoy the super cute shoes--hope the hurricane didn't slow them down!

Rereading your 9/11 post made me teary-eyed again. I can't believe it's already been seven years.
Since you used to write historical romance, I was wondering if you read romance books yourself. If you do or did, who are some of your favorite romance writers? You were a speaker at a past RWA conference. Was that fun? I attended the literacy signing this year in San Francisco and met some of my favorite authors, which was pretty cool.
Also, where in California did you used to live? Do you miss living on the West Coast?
Thanks so much for answering questions this week. It's been great being able to communicate with you this way. ![]()

I have seriously read almost every book you've written. I love your books! There is just something that makes them so universally appealing. Anyway I was wondering if you could give us any hints to what Abandon might be about?
Thabks so much!
Lindsay
Hi, Lindsay! Thanks for the compliment! And as for Abandon, the title is from the quote, Abandon all hope, ye who enter here, and the series is a modern re-telling of the myth of Persephone (I'm sure you know what that is, but for those of you who don't, it's a Greek myth about the daughter of the Goddess of Spring, who is kidnapped by the god of the Underworld and taken by him to dwell forever in hell). Only, you know. In my version, it's set in high school.

well, i only read queen of babble, because here at Brazil they really take a lot of time to translate, and I don't know english very well to read in english, but i know it must be perfect, all your books are perfects... ;D
Well, Meg, I wanted ask you if you aren't planing write a book about persons in college, that would be great!
and i also wanted to know how you was at college, you weren't popular like you weren't at high school? you were a nerd at your classes, or did you not go so well?
I'm sorry i'm so bad in english, that's because i never go to the classes. my teacher is so boring... but I'll learn more to meet you at brazil next year! hihi =)looooooooooove you! and answer me

Hi, Renata! Well, in college, I don't know if popularity is such an issue...it's more about working hard, right? I had my group of friends and we had a REALLY good time (maybe a little too good). I definitely liked college way more than high school. I would love to write some books based in college--who knows, maybe the Princess Diaries, The College Years! But I think in college, when you get to choose your own courses, you definitely have a better time than in high school!
I hope I get to meet you in Brazil next year!
Love,

Hi, Mia! Sorry, I love saying that....Mia! Well, I have always hated the King Arthur legend because poor Queen Gwenevere always gets blamed for everything. So I wanted to write a modern retelling where it ends in a more satisfying way for the girls (and Arthur). So I did! That's all.
Congrats on your blog! Every bit of writing counts, is what my writing teachers always said!
I have a HUGE event planned in NYC on January 9 to celebrate Princess Diaries 10 at the New York Public Library! You HAVE to come! Everyone is invited...the Switchblade Kittens are going to be there playing their Princess Diaries based albums, Vera Wang will be giving away Princess party goods, and there will be a ton more surprises...I can't say what, but Julie Andrews and Lauren Conrad are involved. You HAVE to come.

Thanks, Giovanna! It's great to "cybermeet" meet you! I will be in Brazil for the Rio Biennial book fair in 2009! I hope I'll see you there! For more information about it, go here: http://www.galerarecord.com.br/megcabot/megcabot.php
As for the manga of Avalon High, I was approached to do a manga and I thought a sequel to Avalon High might be fun. I didn't have an idea for a sequel that was long enough for a whole book, just a manga, so it worked out great! I'm doing a manga sequel to JINX too! Hopefully you'll like that as well!
I never did expect that ANYONE would be reading my books, let alone people throughout the world, because I used to hide them and never let anyone see them. It's really weird that people are reading them now--but I'm so happy and pleased that readers like you enjoy them, and I can't wait to meet you!
My next projects after PD10 are a new series, AIRHEAD, and also a series for little girls, ALLIE FINKLE, and maybe some other things...I can't really say right now because it's a secret...but I'll let you know in Rio!
Love,
Meg

Thanks, Stephanie! I've gotten a lot of mail about it, mostly from teens and tweens to say thanks, many of them in tears. It IS important to remember why that day is important, and how that day affected every day people. It changed the way I think about the world, but in a good way. I hope what I wrote will help other people to understand the same thing.

Hi, Elizabeth! I failed Algebra 1 twice. But I actually understand it now because when you apply to real life things (such as money) it's easy. Anyway, in answer to your questions:
How did you get the idea to write about a brain-transpant in a model?
--I just woke up one day and wished I could be someone else but still have my brain so I made up a story in my head about how that could happen. Then I wrote it down!
Will Em tell Christopher who she is, it's killing me???
--Ha! You'll have to read Being Nikki to find out! But remember, she's not allowed to.
Will you write any more about Mia after the tenth book comes out?
--Well, I'm not contracted to right now, but maybe I'll look in on her from time to time....
Will you write anything else about Samantha Madison?
--I always said no after the first book, but then I did, so maybe!
Will you ever write any more historical fiction novels?
--Hmmm, not me, but one of my characters might! If you don't know what I mean by that, check by my website in a few weeks!
Is He Who Shall Not Be Named In This Blog your husband?
--Yes!
What made you want to become an author and what did you major in to help you do that?
--Well, I just love writing. It's my hobby, and now it's my job. I actually majored in art in college, so I'm not sure that helped, but it didn't hurt. I took a lot of history (art history) classes and psychology, and that certainly helped. I did take a few writing workshops, but mostly that just helped me get used to people saying mean things about my writing.
Do you have any children?
--Not yet! But I have lots of nieces and nephews and cats!
Hope that helped! Thanks for writing! And thanks for reading my books!
Love,
Meg

Hi, Diana! I was an old school romance reader from way back--Kathleen Woodiwiss, Johanna Lindsey, and Barbara Cartland. More recently, I'm a hardcore Laura Kinsale fan, but I also enjoy the lighter romances of Julia Quinn and Eloisa James. I went through a big Judith McNaught and Sandra Brown (romances, not her suspense novels, although those are great) phase too. And who doesn't love Nora Roberts?
I lived in Carmel CA and based my Mediator series there. Loved it! So beautiful. I need to go back soon but I'm a bit afraid it won't live up to my memories.
Thanks for stopping by! I wish I had gone to SF, maybe we could have met!
Love,
Meg
