Hello, everyone -
You may have seen the adminstration's announcement this morning in "Announcements."
The Classics Book Club and Epics Book Club will be combining. After the end of May, I will no longer be moderating.
I guess you will need to wait and see what happens about your book choices for this summer (July and August). I solicited those titles from you before I knew of these changes.
It has been my pleasure to moderate the book clubs here at B&N.com. We've had some great times.
I will miss you!

So sorry to hear that you will be leaving us, Connie! You are one of my favorite moderators! You are very responsive and always keep things interesting and fun. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication!!!
I think that the Epics moderator is a volunteer (I may be wrong about that), and has also been thinking of leaving off being a moderator, so I wonder who they will have for this new combined board.
You probably missed that I had already posted a thread about this change, after I had read the announcement. I guess, what with the Nook and blogs and Twitter and Facebook, B&N seems to be losing interest in a good old-fashioned book discussion forum. I feel like a dinosaur.

Thanks for your kind words, Denise.
A dinosaur with a book in our hands, right? Ha. Well, the site is changing that's for sure. I don't know what's going to happen with the combined clubs.
I've enjoyed talking about books with you and everyone (and not having to grade papers!), especially here in Classics.

Connie, I am really sorry to hear that you are leaving. You are by far one of the best, if not the best, moderator on the boards. I have not joined your discussions recently but I sure have over the years. You have always managed to keep discussion moving and organized.
I wish you all the best of luck. Maybe you could rejoin us sometime as a participant.
Nadine

Thank you so much for writing this, Nadine. I really appreciate it! I agree - it would feel weird, but I should still stop by my clubs to see what's happening. I've enjoyed them so much!

Hi Connie, yes, we've had some great discussions in Classics... I remember how tolerant and patient you were when I ranted about Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath"!
My thanks you for your wonderful moderating presence; and my best wishes to you.

Dear Classics Book Club:
This is my last day here at the club.
I hope our paths cross again one day, but in the meantime, I wanted to thank you all for sharing your love of Classic books with me in such a fun and cordial way for so long.
Enjoy your summers, and maybe I'll "see" you around!
Take care!

(you know, you could make an anonymous account now and just participate as you pleased - until we realize that the RPatz-loving, Harry Potter-reading, well-versed-in-Dickens-and-Austen participant could only be you
)
Have a good summer!
I read and knit and dance. Compulsively feel yarn. Consume books. Darn tights. Drink too much caffiene. All that good stuff.

So - who/where is our new moderator, and what is the June selection?
