The Axial Skeleton again

The human being gradually lost his tail, and gradually developed an intellect- so goes the theory of evolution. There might be balance in the "axial skeleton"- that is , what we lost in our tails, we gained in our skulls to protect our brain matter, or lack thereof:smileyvery-happy:.

But humanity found stability in the human mind- memory, in particular- so we "anchor" things like the "Hispaniola" in them, perhaps writing things down on a map to help us remember the things that we cannot. And there might be negative repercussions from "anchoring" some kind of training or an education in the human mind.

During the 1800's and Stevenson's lifetime, western civilization anchored itself more greatly in the human intellect, and there may have been a limit,  or a saturation point, to what they could anchor in the human mind.....

Algorithms

I thought I'd mention that algorithms are often found at balancing points. That is, we find stability in algorithms. "Algorithmic trading" is now a controversy on wall street, for example. Chad

algorithms: bible revelations

PS- Also, the inclusion or exclusion of the Book of Revelations from the bible might have something to do with algorithms. There was a loss of knowledge with the collapse of the Roman empire,, knowledge which was saved by some of the eastern cultures...

Algorithmic trading addendum

Algorithmic trading is that computerized, high frequency or electronic trading that comes under fire for being unfair, for creating inefficiencies in the stock market by artificially inflating the price of stocks or for being responsible for the mini-flash crashes that you read about in the news, among other things. It's trading done by mathematical formulas or algorthims. I believe the SEC is tring to find a balance now, but the trading and arguing might be akin to a fight among pirates on Treasure Island- lol! Chad PS- I'm wondering if OWS rallied against this kind of trading as well.....

Algorithms and the fed reserve

The Fed Reserve also uses algorithms to determine to raise and lower interest rates, which directly impacts the printing up of our money. An algorithm is used to balance the economy as much as fed reserve decides on using one or adehering to one. Recently, in light of the crash of 08', the fed reserve had to deviate from normal the normal algorithms, and devise other "innovative" measures (and they were a bit controversial too, I should say, for many people :smileyvery-happy: lol) to "balance" the economy.
