I see a lot a avatars in this site but when i went to select one the choices were limited. Some i had seeen here were not showing and there wasnt even a full alphaaabet just the first 12 letter. I went to my profile page. Am i looking in the right place?

Similar to that question is that the whole poster info with some people are different then the normal setup. Looks like the avatar is the top thing showing & smaller, then the name then some other info, # of postings, # of Laurels etc.. # of topics, # of ideas....  then the biggest thing all of this is wrapped in a rectangle backdrop of the posters choice.. Some have just a backdrop, others it looks like a personal photo.

I'd like to know more about that rectangle thing, too.

Also, what is the deal with the Top Category Experts list now showing on many of the pages?  They do not seem to be related to the specific board.  What categories are they experts in, and how did they get to be so?

Hey dulcinea3,

I'm implementing Category Experts for our NOOK boards. The rectangles you see are Profile Badges for these experts. 

Currently, I have them only in our NOOK boards but will move the feature to our bookclubs as soon as all of the kinks are fleshed out.

The leaderboards will be removed soon as well; they'll remain on our support boards. I'll followup with a community update notice soon to fill everyone in on some of the cool new things in the works.

As far as avatars go, the perk is only available to these experts at the moment. But as soon as I work out the new ranking formulas that may open up to the community as a whole.

Thanks, Alex.  Just to let you know, the Top Category Experts is showing on all the boards (not just Nook boards), with the same four people listed.  It is causing some confusion, since it is placed in the middle of Top Laureled Posts, Top Laureled Posters, Top Taggers, and Top Tags, all of which are board-specific, and people don't understand why others who don't even post on that board are being listed as experts.

Not sure why the leaderboards are going to be removed; they are a well-liked feature, I believe.

I think only the leader boards for the category experts will be removed from the other boards and not the others.

I also was wondering what the rectangular backgrounds were and how to obtain them. Glad I stumbled upon this thread to sort out my confusion. Would be nice to get little perks for staying around at the forums. Time will surely tell.
