Lol no voodoo.

I'll make sure to explain the ranks once activated.

Re: Ask B&N

Alex, I've noticed what appears to be a bug in the new board's configuration. The date, time, and user name listed under the "Solved by" column on the Ask B&N front page are actually those of the most recent comment, which is not necessarily the designated solution. In fact it often isn't the solution.

As an example, look at the solved question titled "New eBook only shows page 1 of 1." On the front page (where it's currently the third of the solved questions) under "Solved by" it says 5-14-2012 2:37 AM by hank_gurdjieff, but if you click through to the thread, you'll see that the designated solution was posted 5-11-2012 1:46 PM by LucianusMeridius. The hank_gurdjieff post is just the latest comment. It doesn't even appear unless you click the Comments link under the OP.

Re: Ask B&N

Alex,

Is there a proper system for laurelling in the Ask B&N section?  Do I laurel for a correct answer, or do I laurel the question if I also want to know the answer?

I only ask because I don't know if you're factoring these in to anything.

Thanks.

Re: Ask B&N

Thanks for spotting that Sun_Cat, I'll post to Lithium and see if we can have it corrected.

Well the laurel links are active for both, so I would say do as you wish. Laurels will play into the ranking structure, though where received, question or answer, won't make a difference.

Re: Ask B&N

I just tried to ask a question in Ask B&N, and it seems I can't enter more than one line of text.  When I get to the end of the line, the additional text that I'm typing disappears.  There's an icon that allows me to make the question box bigger, but that doesn't allow me to enter more text.

Is this a bug?

I'm running Firefox 12 in Wiindows 7.

I have a feeling that first text box is just for the post's subject. (It would be called the subject on the regular message boards.) It's probably kept deliberately short for at least two reasons: to encourage succinct questions and to maximize the efficiency of the background process that searches for similar solutions as you type. I expect that once you click the New Message button, you'll get a larger input box for the message body, in which you can add details. (I didn't want to go through the whole process and create a test post there, so I'm speculating based on incomplete information.)

As Sun_Cat referenced above, that is intended behavior. It's kept intentionally short to provide an easier way of indexing answers.

I think it would be helpful to either explain that on the page, or use the standard subject/body format that's used when entering a new post elsewhere.

In any case, I was just going to ask for a specific forum for Nook Friends as there are a lot of posts from people looking for nook friends and it'd be nice to have a place for them, as right now they're all over the boards, and people keep starting new ones.  I suppose that's not really an "Ask B&N" question anyway.

Sun_cat,

This seems to be something Lithium is aware of. They'll update me once addressed.

Thank you for your help though
