Re: B&N says: no Amazon-published books in our stores

I have to say, I'm glad the other big chain book sellers are pulling shelving space from Amazon published content. As a self-published author, I use Amazon's createspace, and would *love* to see my books on a BN shelf, I haven't yet succumbed to placing my titles in KDP Select. The thought of limiting my exposure to just Amazon, just didn't/doesn't seem like good business.

Mellisa, don't leave me and go to Select. What would I do? Could you go to the thread about file compression here in Community Room and check my answer? Also, if you have more to add, please do. I pasted an answer from Pubit to this question in another post, probably by the same person a couple of week ago.

Re: B&N says: no Amazon-published books in our stores

The American Booksellers Association, a trade group for independent bookshops, has joined in. Amazon-published titles are being removed from its IndieCommerce database.

ABA has made it clear that their action isn't against Amazon specifically, but against the practice of restricting who can sell certain formats. The only instance at the moment is Amazon restricting the sale of the e-book format for Amazon-published titles to Amazon, so they're the only one affected right now.

Some independent booksellers are taking action against Amazon specifically, on the basis of not wanting to help their biggest competition make money.

I suppose it only makes sense for amazon to at least explore the potential in opening their own physical retail space.
