I am always very interested in other people's reading experiences. Especially those books that really have had an influence in their lives. So even though this is a really hard thing to narrow down--what are the very best books you have ever read?
Mine would have to start with the Bible--that would be an obvious. Then a few of the titles would be The Knowledge of the Holy (A.W. Tozer), Mere Christianity (C.S. Lewis), The Brothers Karamazov (Fyodor Dostoevsky), The Lord of the Rings (J.R.R. Tolkein) and The Cost of Discipleship (Deitrich Bonhoeffer)--to name a few. Just as with you there would be many more.

I'd have to say that my favorites include the Tolkein trilogy and Hobbit. I read them ever 10 years or so and totally get immersed in the writing.
I also love Love LOVE

The Stand by Stephen King is my all time favorite book. It by King is also up there on my list. Other favorites include Rosemary's Baby, Gone with the Wind, and Watership Down. I am a big fan of The Kinsey Millhone series and the Southern Vampire series.
As you can tell I am a fan of pop fiction. I read to relax and like entertaining and exciting books. I read enough heavy, serious stuff during grad school to last a life time!

Since I am completely unfamiliar with Love Poems from God I just might have to take a look at it. What makes it so good?

I am not a Stephen King fan--not even a little. However, a good friend who knows that, tells me that I would love The Stand. I might just borrow hers and see what all the excitement is about.

Omigosh....EVERYTHING! It includes writings by a number of authors, among them Hafiz and Rumi. There is such tremendous wisdom in so many of the poems. I shared this book with a discussion group I am in (spiritual topics is the norm) and they all agreed it is one of their all-time favorite books now. I've found great inspiration in so many of the poems. They are short, some are easy to grasp, some put your mind and heart in a twist trying to figure out the meaning for you. I love both kinds. Hope this helps! -- LSCB

I was recently with friends discussing books we've read two or even three times. Mine are
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier
Christie by Catherine Marshall
Interestingly two other women mentioned du Maurier as an author they've read and re-read.

You should read it. It is the battle of good versus evil after 99% of the world's population is wiped out by a virus. It is an incredible read and the characters are so well developed. That is why I love Stephen King so much. He does such a great job of developing his characters that I feel like I know them personally.
