Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Charged for Free e-book on ClassicBooks

Has anyone else had issues on the free ebook webpage?  I selected two books for free download then was charged 2.99 a book.  I've been using the nook and B&N site for several months without any problems.

Since I disputed these item, my nook is not able to download any free, or archive items.  Basically, B&N has stated that in order to use my nook I need to unblock my credit card to access my previously purchased items!  I am amazed.  I am serioulsy considering returning my nook and request a refund of my previoulsy purchased books.

I assume you mean you disputed them on your CC?   Did you try calling B&N CS first and asking them to remove the charges?  Did you get an email receipt for the books and what did it say?   I've downloaded almost all the free classics each week without any problem.

I was also charged 2.99 for one of the free classics.  I called B&N CS and they refunded the charge, but I had to wait almost 10 minutes while the CS representative received approval to refund the charge.

I had the same thing happen - I noticed two charges on my credit card statement, and when I checked my BN account, they were listed as $0.00. I called BN, waited on hold for quite some time, and they said they remove the charge from my card.

I am pretty unhappy about this - I am now going to need to check my nookbook charges against my creditcard statement every single month?

Does this happen frequently? I've only bought about 20 items and have been mischarged twice!

Yes it happens a lot. Quite a few people have picked up prepaid credit cards for their nook book purchases. They don't want the mess in their normal account.
