Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Download Issue

I got the free friday book today and it won't download.  I get the following message "unable to download.  internal error; internal error during license generation"

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Re: Download Issue

What bklvr said.

In another thread lots of people are having the same problem. And one of them said that CS told them it's related to server problems. So try tomorrow. If you've bought the book it's in your account. It won't run away. Also Free Friday book is usually free until Sunday night. So waiting a day won't hurt.

In this particular case, it might. The publisher, Night Shade Books, is closing down. It'll probably be impossible to download or re-download Night Shade titles once they've pulled the plug.

It's possible, if the terms were negotiated that way, but it's unlikely.

Re: Download Issue

Good to know.

Does anyone know if thsi is a trend? Books on Board closing down. Nightshade books closing down.

Or just two random occurrences?

I would have assumed that as people shifted to ebooks companies would do better. No?

Well, Books on Board is a bookstore, and they claim they're not closing down, just restructuring.  Nightshade books is a publisher, and small pubs turn over all the time.  So no, I don't think there's a new trend, just the usual - small pub turnover, bookstores struggling.
