FT,
Thanks for trying to bring these issues to the attention of B&N management. Is there are way for you to coordinate internally with the other Nook Bookstore Techs who see and deal with these questions day to day at the bookstores? A complete different set of customers who may have expressed similar questions/concerns but don't participate on the forums? Or an employee survey on what the issues are? After all, (one would think anyway) a lot of the people that work at B&N like books, some of them have to have at least played with the Nook even if they haven't adopted it. One would think anyway that the employee base is a diverse user base right there that B&N could get (heck, require) some feed back from on what they like/dislike about the nook and ebooks.
And I have to say, I think it is really great that current board members have taken the time to (re)post all these issues. But with the exception of Doug Pardee's post about the problem with advance search on the website, don't think I am seeing any new issues. Because... well...., um.... WE DID THIS ALREADY!!!!
There used to be two other communities under both the NT and the NC --- Suggestions and Issue Reporting (sorry, can't remember the exact titles.) These disappeared in mid-April. It was supposed to be "temporary." http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/NOOK-Tablet
Realize that I am totally off topic here. And apologize. Many active members of this forum are truly an amazing/interesting bunch of people with a combined interest in technology and a love of books. I truly hope that B&N listens to some of your suggestions and broadens there consumer base beyond JULIE.
Apologize again for being OT, but this is very frustrating to watch somedays.

I think if we can point to a thread where at least several independent observers have confirmed the same results under generally the same conditions, we should be on solid ground. As FT notes, reproduceability is the key. If we simpy summarize the issue here and point to the (emotion-laden) thread, I think we'll have accomplished a lot.
People have slightly different perceptions, and they tend to describe the same issues in different terms. I simply wanted to know if it would be necessary for me to update my thread on a different forum that seems to describe the same issue, but in different terms and with a different label. Is that a bad thing?
I'm just going to keep entries here to a line or two and point to the "real" threads where things are being hashed out. I hadn't thought about pointing to other sites, but I suppose that's fine.
As a software developer for many years, I do not believe that it is possible to have "too much" information when trying to identify and fix a software problem -- especially a problem that has made it past QA and into the hands of customers.
I agree. I do think this thread needs to stick to terse summaries to be effective though. I'm not arguing, mind you. I just can't imagine FT wanting to wade through 30 pages of ongoing and possibly unresolved discussion, only to find out something isn't a B&N bug at all. I think there are enough confirmed "issues" to keep him busy.
Was it okay for me to link to a thread in a different B&N Book Clubs Forum (NOOK Tablet Support) that did not appear to be emotion-laden? The problem described in that thread is one that recurs, but I have not, yet, detected a specific pattern. I believe that B&N, through FT, would have a better chance of solving the problem if a pattern could be identified.

Yes, that's fine.
If you can find one that's not emotion-laden, please link to it here.

The thread can be found here:
You were an active participant in the discussion. The thread is not emotion-laden unless you believe that your words: "That does sounds like the epub itself is 'haunted'" are emotional. Is "haunted" an emotional word?
