thanks for the update Doug.
This is very interesting. John Lewis is not the first store i would have thought of. It is, however, a very good store and I can see why B&N would sell there.
I was expecting more of supermarkets like Tesco and Asda.

B&N announced today that three more retail partners in the UK have been signed up to sell NOOK devices. Argos, Blackwell's, and Foyles are now on the list.
As with John Lewis, the stores will initially be carrying the E-Ink models, not the NOOK Color nor NOOK Tablet.

My sister lives in UK and I've spent a year in London.
According to her John Lewis is a very trusted store with great customer service. They have a 6 month or longer return policy. They refunded her the price difference of a dress after it went on sale 4.5 months after her purchase.
So Nook being available there is a good thing.
John Lewis has 36 stores.
Argos - Huge Chain. 800 stores. Decent Reputation.
Blackwell's - 45 stores. Academic Publisher.
Foyle's - Independent Bookstore.
It's a very good start. John Lewis is a big win. Argos too. Other two are nice.
