I don't read sequels that aren't written by the original author, e.g. Scarlett, by Alexandera Ripley. My grandmother gave that book to me because she knew I loved Gone with the Wind, but I immediately donated to the library without even reading the inside flap.

I refuse to read books 2-4 of the Twilight series. The first one was OK, but I had to give up on New Moon less than halfway through. It was just awful- I just wanted to slap Bella so I had to stop reading.
I also refuse to read anything written by or relating to Sarah Palin. To each her own, but I just cannot stomach that woman.
To all the people who do not read autobiographies or biographies- give them a chance. In some cases, you don't know what you are missing! I read a fantastic biography on Lauren Bacall ages ago and one of my top 5 books ever is:
The Autobiography of Malcolm X
Regardless of how you feel about Malcolm X's politics, his story is fascinating and Alex Haley is a gifted writer.

Marley & Me.
Why? I'm a real dog fanatic. I had to put one of my most beloved pets to sleep a few years ago, and I also have a very old dog. I'd just bawl for months. I heard wonderful things about it, though.
Don’t Fear the Reaper Because I could not stop for Death, he kindly stopped for me...~Emily Dickinson 17-yr-old Keely Morrison finds that death isn't any easier than life.

I don't read horror, extreme violence, etc. There's enough of that on the evening news and in the newspapers. I'm as bad as a kid...I have nightmares from the horror and violence.
Life's too short to read what I don't enjoy.

reader_824, Thats a simlar reason I never watch all the Blood and Gore movies. Not that it gives me nightmares, I guess after seeing real Blood and Gore in Nam almost daily, seeing it pretend never did any thing for me.
