That's quite interesting - I never realized you could do that. Thanks Doug ![]()

At the risk of disrupting the current conversation by answering the original question:
You can do this using a search query. However, you can't just construct it in the Search or Advanced Search system. You need to know your user ID number, which you can find by going to your forum profile page (click your name at the top of this page) and look at the last bit on the URL. (Or you can just hover over the link and see where your browser says it would go.) Grab that number and plug it into the following query, which you'll then need to feed to your browser:
http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/forums/sear
chpage/tab/message?has_kudos=true&author_id=YOUR USER ID NUMBER HERE
For example, Ben_Stuffing's user ID is 375920, so this query pulls up a list of threads that have one or more messages where Ben_Stuffing got laurels. If there are any responses shown, open them up by clicking "Show results in replies": http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/forums/sear
chpage/tab/message?has_kudos=true&author_id=375920
Here's the search for Kathy S: http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/forums/sear
chpage/tab/message?has_kudos=true&author_id=54336
And one for Nallia: http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/forums/sear
chpage/tab/message?has_kudos=true&author_id=245012
And one for me! http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/forums/sear
chpage/tab/message?has_kudos=true&author_id=248241
Note: there are sort options available after you get the response back.

Over in the nook forums we've joked about holding a Stump Doug_Pardee thread, except we can't think of anything he doesn't know a whole lot about. ![]()
On a different note, and from another thread here, I can see that some have misinterpreted what laurels are and how they are used.
Laurels are a way for all of to show our appreciation to someone else. Maybe a poster wrote something that made you laugh, touched your heart, or helped you solve a problem.
It's not a "me" thing, it's not a contest to see how many you can earn. It's about the other guy or gal. Very often I give a laurel to people who had the courtesy to come back and say "hey, that worked, thanks" when we've helped them solve a problem. Many don't bother to let us know if they are back up and running.
Laurels aren't something to worry about. If you get them fine, if you don't that's fine, too. The value is in your words and who you are, not little green branches.

I have to say, I agree with Desert_Brat. For me, laurels are just a show of appreciation for a particular post. Occasionally, they're an indication of agreement with a point being made without having to add a "me too" post.
Ranks and laurels don't really have any effect on your everyday interaction with the board, and I don't pay much attention to them. Yeah, that's easy for me to say, having reached the top board rank, having collected over 1000 laurels, having the most-laureled single post since B&N switched to the Lithium system, etc. But that also shows that I've been through the whole range, and there's only one functional difference between now and when I was a brand-new member: when I give laurels, I now give 3 at a time. Everything else operates just the same as when I was a newbie.

Me, three! Laurels and ranks are kind of fun, but don't get too hung up on them. You will probably find that sometimes you stick at one rank for a long, long time, so don't feel like you're doing something wrong.
It seems to me that back when they announced this system, Jon (or was it Paul?) said that there would be other extra privileges or abilities at the highest ranks, other than the additional laurels, but everyone in the know was very mysterious about it all at the time, they all seem to be gone now, and as far as I know, nobody has detected these extra privileges and abilities, so they may well be non-existent.

I remember that as well. lol
(I had a user name for the old boards 4 or 5 years ago, but it was gone when I tried to actually log in to it and I had to create a new one. Must have happened when the boards changed.)

I did a bit of digging and found that announcement post; it may be helpful to newer users who have questions:
It also says (bolding mine):
Laurels – the new green buttons that you see on the right side of every message - are a way of showing your appreciation for a post that you’ve read here on the Book Clubs. Did someone say something that you think is insightful, funny, or profound; something that made you look at a book in a new way, or helped you learn something? Simply click on the green button to reward that post with laurels. Getting laurels from other users – and giving them out yourself – contributes to your rank here at the Book Clubs and will eventually grant you the ability to give larger numbers of laurels – as well as access to special features....
The newer ranks aren’t based only on your post count – they’re based on your overall community activity. This includes not only your post count but things like the number of threads you’ve initiated, the number of laurels that you’ve received and that you’ve given to other users, the tags that you’ve contributed to the community and so on. As you advance in rank you’ll not only be able to give out larger numbers of laurels, but you’ll have access to special features and posting privileges.
So, has anybody at the upper ranks identified any of these "special features and posting privileges"?

We notice in this discussion that the ones without the ranks and laurels want them and the ones with all the ranks and laurels say it is no big deal.
As one of the newbies, and of course I only speak for myself, I don't think we (newbies) see the ranks and laurels as gold stars by our names like when we were in elementary school. There are at least a couple of reasons why they matter at least a little. First, we all love recognition and a sense that we a doing a good job. And when that laurel shows up or that next rank is acheived it says that is the case (whether it should or not). But my guess is that there is a more significant reason. When joining a community we want to know whether or not we are making a contribution. When we write something we hope is thoughtful and worthwhile, not knowing how it is being heard or understood, this is a way that it can be communicated to the new kids on the block that what you have said is important. For that reason I agree that the laurels should not be handed out like candy on halloween, but understand that they do matter--at least for a little while. That's it for my "two cents."

Ah well a long time ago ...say three versions back I got invited to a sneak peek of the new version coming out soon and participate in a discussion with some of the moderators. Not sure if that was a special privilege or not, they asked a few of us posters to join.
Special powers ...looking around). Nope don't seem to have gotten those. Yo Kathy did you get my wand?![]()
Honestly though, I think that was something they were considering a few versions back and I don't think they ever went through with them. Not to say they won't and of course who knows... (shrug)
