Need a last minute gift?

Thought I'd start a thread for ideas about the last minute gift needed before tomorrow afternoon.

I'll make the first entry based on a recommendation that reached me via Brad_W :

Inside Larry and Sergey's Brain  by Richard Brandt.

It should be of particular interest to any business executive, let alone any one involved in high technology.  It is also very accessable to all interested in the world around them.

It is a quick read -- I decided to get through the gift copy that arrived on my doorstep Monday before I needed to wrap it today.  So, despite all the things swirling through these days, I just finished it.

I have encountered better writing, better research.  But, still decently done and written. Best, if one has not been keeping up day to day with the magazine articles and the technology, in one quick, swift, deft effort, one meets and learns about two excessively capable young men and some of the others around them who are having as profound an effect on our world and the one of the decades ahead as the likes of Carnegie, Morgan, Rockefeller, Cray, Amdahl, Jobs, Gates, and the historic figure Ptolemy, the last with whom Brandt compares Page and Brin.

IMHO, a very good use of one's time is reading the 228 pages of this little book.

(I paired this with another recommendation from Brad_W,

Googled  by Ken Auletta, but cookie baking and gift wrapping will have to take precedent over giving a personal opinion.  :smileysad:  )
