Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Here's a link that may help on how to search the bookstore.

When you search for a book you may also refine your search on the left side of the page for format, hardcover or paperback. I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you, Rick.  However, I think it is clear from the posts on this thread that we are aware of this, but that what we really want is the ability to search for multiple formats at one time, but to select which formats we want.  Right now we have the ability to include all formats, or use one and only one format.  Either the ability to select multiple formats at a time, or the ability to exclude one or more formats in a search would be great.

And, Ya-Ya, I do see your point.  That would be great.  Personally, I would be happy just to omit e-books, but it makes sense if you don't want audiobooks, etc.  However, just because I don't currently read e-books does not mean that I think they are 'evil'; I don't see why it has to be one or the other.  There is a very simple way for people who only want e-books to search, by selecting NOOKBooks.  I wouldn't necessarily think that anybody who uses that search thinks that physical books are evil.  I'd just like the same ability for non-e-books.

Re: NookBook Filter Option Needed

The advanced search should give users the option of choosing their search category the same way the simple search does.  However, choosing Books should search for only paper books and automatically exclude ebooks, just as choosing NOOKbooks automatically excluded paper books.

I have both the original NOOK and a NOOKcolor and I still buy paper books.  People buying paper books shouldn't have to comb through tons of ebook results.  Otherwise, why separate the categories on the site at all?

On a separate, but related, note, we really need the option to filter out PubIt ebooks from ebook searches.  They return thousand of redundant results and it's really annoying to try to find something specific sometimes.
