Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Now that NO MORE NOOK.. what are they going to do with all these they just sold ?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/25/barnes--noble-earnings-_n_3496082.html?utm_hp_ref=technolog...

Barnes and  Nobles announced on Tuesday 6/25/13.

"The largest traditional U.S. bookseller said Tuesday that it will stop making its own Nook color touchscreen tablets as a result, a move intended to stem the losses it's suffering from its digital unit."

Are we screwed ??????

There are currently TWO other discussions of this topic, one in this forum, and another in the Nook Talk forum.

So far, no you are not screwed.  The news is not that they are exiting the ebook business, just that they will no longer be making their own color tablet.  If you a reader owner, you can still buy books from BN,  buy from others, and borrow from library.  If you are a tablet owner, you can buy from Google Play.

You're only screwed if you were hoping to buy a new version tablet manufactured by B&N next year. Everything they've already made will continue functioning normally. They will continue to manufacture their own eInk devices. They are going to partner with a company that manufactures tablets. They are going to continue to sell eBooks. So, NOT screwed.

To be fair, the vast majority of news articles seem to be repeating the incorrect conclusion that BN has basically quit the ebook business. Reporters are getting lazy.

It is so nice to be able to have a place to discuss topics as this and get answers from people who know what they are talking about.
People have a tendency of blowing things out of perspective when it comes from the news media.

I don't mind that no more tablets will be made. I am more concerned about getting Tablet support and accessories. Will they continue to make the products we need to run our Tablets? Example they tell us not to use other product accessories such as the adapters & usb products, but will they continue making the ones we need to run the ones we have now? If not, what are compatable to the Nook? Also, will they continue to improve on the apps they have sold through Barnes & Noble and for how long before we are winging it all on our own?

Since the NC and NT are still supported, and you can still get cables for it, I don't see B&N pulling support for them or the HDs.  At least not for the time being on the NC/NT, at some point I can see them doing it, which is only normal.
