PDF Font support for languages from India (Hindi & Marathi)

Hi,

I was wondering if the Nook Touch supports fonts such as Hindi & Marathi PDF files. I wanted to gift my mother a Nook Touch on her birthday. There are many websites that sell Marathi language novels that could be read on a ereader device with PDF support.

Is there anyone who knows about this? If there isn't anyone, can someone test a couple of such files on his/her device and let me know? That would be a great favor. Thanks.

Regards,

Vinay.

Re: PDF Font support for languages from India (Hindi & Marathi)

As long as you view at "full page" size (which is rather small), the NOOK will use the PDF fonts. The list of alphabets supported by NOOK at larger sizes is given in the manual for each model. I doubt that those alphabets are supported, though.

By-and-large, reading PDFs on any small-screen e-reader is an exercise in frustration. Most people will only do it out of dire necessity.

Better would be if you can find a site that sells e-books in EPUB format with embedded fonts.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, the seller has the books only in PDF.

It is true that resizing text could be a problem in future, that's why I am looking for someone who has a Nook Touch and can read these languages to see if those pdf files can work well on the device.
