Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: KINDNESS

I have another great site where you can market your talent.

I've established a site where authors can seek out editors, graphic designers,
publishers, etc to support book development.

It's also available for individuals to put together portfolios to market their services and books.

The site operates like a virtual notebook with the enhanced ability to develop manuscripts, seek support and promote your work.

The About Us book outlines how the site works and the rights of our users.  You can find
it at,
http://www.pscache.com/web/index.php/bookprofile/index/bookProfileId/35

Please let me know what you think of the site and if we can be of any service

Re: Good books for a 9 year old boy.

Wow.  Your son is an avid reader.  I've also got my son journaling.  It's a great way to keep in touch with family and friends and a great way to keep track of events.  I put together a website which allows him to keep in touch with family and friends and they can keep in touch with what's he's involved in.  The site allows him to journal his fun activities and connects with family that is far away.

Like many other authors, I’m hoping that eventually his journal may turn into a biography.  Right now he’s writing about characters for a video game and the interesting attributes they might possess.  He’s already begun to build the scenery to set the stage for the game.

It’s fun.  Especially once his grandparents and aunt get to review his literature and comment or send him messages.

"Feast Days of the Saints" set for July 31 release

After a few understandable delays, my editor has finally accepted my last re-writes and my 2nd novel 'Feast Days of the Saints" goes to the printer sometime this week and will be available by the end of July.  Set against a pervasive doping scandal in the Tour de France, a young American cyclist deals with hiding this illegal activity by accusing his own father of a heinous crime.  You can read the first chapter on my web site www.shawnrohrbach.com  Happy Reading.

New Release - Second Chances - Romantic Suspense

Hi Everyone!

I'm an author, and new member to the B&N boards.  I wanted to pass on some information about my latest release, Second Chances, a romantic suspense novel.

This message is a combo 'new release' and 'upcoming release' because Second Chances is available now in eBook format from several eBook distributers, but I don't have a B&N release date yet.  I've been told it's coming, though, and I will definitely re-post again once I have that information.

I realize there are rules with posting info on books not available on B&N but my book is coming to B&N it's just not here yet, so I hope I'm still within the guidelines! :smileyhappy:

New, Powerful, and Inspiring Robert Kennedy Book - "Mindless Menace of Violence"

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to let everyone know about a new book published by Zachary J. Martin titled, "The Mindless Menace of Violence: Robert F. Kennedy’s Vision and the Fierce Urgency of Now.” It is published by Hamilton Books and is a great contribution to books written about RFK and his vision and legacy.

Book Description From Publisher:

"The Mindless Menace of Violence: Robert F. Kennedy's Vision and the Fierce Urgency of Now is a stellar contribution to both fields [History and Sociology] and will speak to the young American as well as wake up older citizens to what has become of this country in terms of violence."—Corinne M. Richard, Adjunct Professor of World History at Salem State College

“On April 5, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy stepped to the podium at the City Club of Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio, and gave an address titled the “Mindless Menace of Violence.” It had been one day since an assassin’s bullet struck and killed Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. For a country seeking to understand the senseless bloodshed and the future of the United States in peril from acts of indifference, Robert F. Kennedy attempted to paint a picture of society in which citizens had increasingly become out of touch with one another. Mindless Menace of Violence: Robert F. Kennedy’s Vision and the Fierce Urgency of Now is an examination of the speech on violence that Robert F. Kennedy gave in April of 1968.

Using a line-by-line breakdown of the speech, the author analyzes the history behind Kennedy’s words and discerns a warning for the future of American society. In history as well as society, words can change the course of human events. As American society has become increasingly violent, Kennedy’s words are just as important today as they were in 1968.”
