Re: Reading in store gone?

No, sorry. These were first time reads. I'll see what happens the next time I go in. Sorry there doesn't seem to be an answer to your problem.

I used to be Snow White, but I drifted.

Re: Reading in store gone?

Did the OP redownload the book or try to read the same one? The book has to be redownloaded each time you are in the store. If you open the same one it will say that the lending period has expired. You have an hour to read new download. Remember where you are in the book then redownload it next time you are in the store.

On my inability to Read in Store more than once, I have tried all suggestions provided by B&N and through the B&N Community.  I have un-registered and re-registered my NOOK three times....I have made sure I am connected to the B&N Store Wifi....I make sure I wait 24 hours plus.  But I can still normally not get into a RIS book more than once.  The two exceptions are the two times I posted unkind comments in other social media....then like magic I could get into the books again.....but for only one time, then locked out again.

What is the next step?  Or is there a next step to determine why this is happening and how it will be fixed?  I have noticed that I am not the only one having this problem.   Please let me know how to proceed.

Re: Reading in store gone?

This feature has only worked occasionally at the two stores in the Des Moines Iowa area. The local Nook guy told me this morning that they have a national problem with the feature and that their own internal customer support group for the stores is helpless. The demo units in the store don't work with this feature most of the time and most of the staff can't use the feature anymore either. Note: it will let you download a new read in store book anytime. You just can't reliably read it the next day. Or the next week........

Question: is B&N technologically incompetent? Can't they get their partner Microsoft to fix the problem? Or is it that they don't really give a damn?

See also this discussion on the new Ask B&N board, where official corporate folks are supposed to be watching and responding. We'll see.

Re: Reading in store gone?

As the OP, I should have requested this thread be locked or deleted since my question was answered.  As far as my experience went, I was able to read in store again a couple weeks later.  Not sure what happened but I'm guessing the store was having problems with the networking gear that should have handed me off from attwifi to attwifibn as I was on the correct network but it never transitioned to that in-store experience.

As far as my local store goes, the Starbucks is attached, not in-store, and is in fact a corporate Starbucks outlet so my B&N membership card won't get me a discount there.
