Reading in store gone?

Maybe I'm just being paranoid about unintended consequences of the DOJ lawsuit but I went to my local B&N today and couldn't get the Read-in-Store feature to work at all on any of my Nooks (NC, NST, NT).  I can't even find mention of it as a feature anymore at bn.com. I had a good Wifi connection to surf the web, shop the Nook store, etc.

Has anyone else successfully connected in-store to the free read-in-store feature this past week?

Did you ask anyone in your local B&N about it while you were there?

Re: Reading in store gone?

There is one BN store near me that has been without its read in-store operational for almost two months now.  Good thing there are several around here.

Re: Reading in store gone?

One thing to always check is that you're connected to the right network. All BN stores will have at least two networks, larger ones (like mine) also have a dedicated network for the demo units.

You have to be connected to the "B&N Store" network, not the other one (in my store it's "attwifi" and "nookdemo") if you want to access Read In Store.

Incidentally, it was working circa 12:30 eastern when I demoed the feature to some customers today.

Some people's minds are like cement; all mixed up and permanently set.

Re: Reading in store gone?

Okay, good to hear that it was working in other stores.  I was careful to make sure I was on the B&N store network and not the attwifi from Starbucks.  Normally I'd have just figured it was the crush of people out today but I checked it out with the store demo models and they didn't appear to have it available either -- I'm guessing it was just a glitch with that particular store.

Re: Reading in store gone?

I was just at my local B&N store the other day and it was working just fine on my Nook Tablet.

I would hope there would be an announcement if this feature was removed and the reasonings as to why. I think Red In Store is a great selling point not only for the Nook's but is a great way to sell more e-books IMO.

Re: Reading in store gone?

Hi All,

Read in store is not gone, and we have no plans to remove this awesome feature.

As Toastr has already mentioned, please make sure you are connected to the correct network when in our store.

If you aren't sure which is the network you can always stop by our NOOK kiosks and ask one of our staff.

Thanks Toastr! :smileyhappy:

Re: Reading in store gone?

Bought my Nook Color on 2/22/12 and the RIS function has never worked properly.  I saw the post from BN_Alex about linking to a second WIFI so I asked my B&N Nook person and they said they only had the ATT Wifi.  I'm still thinking this leans more to false or deceptiive advertising by B&N.
