June 19 (Reuters) - Barnes & Noble Inc reported lower-than-expected quarterly revenue, hurt by disappointing sales of its Nook digital books and e-readers, and the top U.S. bookstore chain expects sales at its stores to fall this fiscal year.

From the Article: As the black and white e-reader market matures, the battleground is shifting more to color e-readers and tablets that offer more media, and not just text.
Yes; and as someone basically says in the article's next paragraph, this is where the Kindle Fire becomes the more attractive of the two devices.

As much as I hate to admit it, in the color realm, the Fire seems more appealing.
And, I think, it will run a NOOK app whereas the NT won't unless it's rooted. (At least that's what I heard. I may be wrong on this.)
Luckily, I'm very happy with the NST over any other B&W ereader currently out there.

Strayer: The Nook Tablet is selling better than the Kindle Fire.
Just out of curiosity, where did you hear this? Articles I've run across either put the Fire ahead or the two of them pretty much neck-to-neck.

There was a report last week that devices reporting themselves as NT/C's are showing up more often online than KF's. One (rather large) ad service was seeing more hits from NOOK's than Kindles. It doesn't definitvely mean NOOK's are outselling Kindles, but it does mean that it is probably a reasonably close game.

Of course it is just speculation, but a number of people expect Amazon.com's coming quartely earnings to be disappointing. KDP has cut back on support services, and the Select program has resulted in a sizable drop for paid sales. Jeffry Bezos is concentrating on selling clothing, and the ebook business is being ignored.
Regarding ebook pricing, I have titles with both Amazon.com and B and N, and my prices are always exactly the same. Anyone who wants to read an ebook, but cannot afford or is too cheap to pay the trivial price, can just return it within the free period. Some do,
My most recently listed ebooks with B and N are these:
"Jack The Ripper vs. Sherlock Holmes" and "The Case Of Sherlock Holmes And The Mutilated Cattle." If you like reading about Jack The Ripper or Sherlock Holmes, you will enjoy reading these ebooks.
