Hi everyone,
Unfortunately we are experiencing some unexpected problems with Signing In right now. Our developers are currently looking into the issue.
In the mean time, here is a workaround - sign in at BN.com like usual, and then when you come to the Book Clubs, click "reply" on any message. You don't actually have to post a reply - simply clicking on "reply" will sign you in and you can then go back to the thread listing or to any of the Book Clubs or blogs.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this issue - we hope to have this fixed as soon as possible and we apologize for the inconvenience.
Jon

I again experienced Sign In problems this morning and finally reached the solution Jon proposes here!!! As signing in is an absolutely necessary function I hope PRIORITY is now being given to this problem, which has been troubling a number of us for over a month
.
If there is one thing which B&N should have learned from this whole upgrade experience, it is not to allow techies to ditch an old system before they have thoroughly tested out the new. As it is, they have not just thrown the baby out with the bathwater, they have thrown out the bath too!

This is beyond stupid!! I just spent 45 minutes trying to figure this sign-in problem out. I've never had this problem, until now! Click REPLY TO SIGN IN? Good grief! Does anyone think this is going to be fixed, or anything else in this program, this month!? If this new program ever does get straightened out, and B&N changes it one more time after that (like they continually want to do) Don't expect me to be back, again!

Jon, incase You haven't heard me, I'll reiterate. This is more than an inconvenience, it's down right ridiculous, and to carry these problems on for over a month, to find that nothing changes, how absurd is that? The blind is leading the blind, and it's about time somebody figured it out.
I'd ask you for the supervisor in charge of this fiasco, but I know you wouldn't give me a name. Each time we log in, we expect these changes to be dealt with, and they are not. Again, we come back and still find more problems we are dealing with, and again, thinking it will be taken care of soon. Always soon, is what we hear from you. I'm not listening to the words that come out of your mouth, because they just become placating nonsense. I thought I'd stick around, because I've not wanted to end this relationship with this company, but if this is how you care to treat your patrons, year after year, than I want no part of it, and you can call it UPGRADING all you want, and as many times as you want, but to me it's just a pile of S**t. Change the name, and it still smells the same.

Replying again, in order to sign on. This time was a bit different, though. When I hit Reply, I was given a sign-on page, which I had never had to go through before when I have used this method.
Echoing the others, this is just ridiculous. Has B&N decided that it is not worth maintaining the book clubs any more, so they are trying to drive us away in frustration?

That is unkind and uncalled for - and you know it.
For your information, today was the FIRST DAY EVER that I had a problem with the sign-on and I recognized it right away and used the work-around to sign-in (took a bit but it did work). The admins have been working very hard to fix a very high-traffic site that also has to have a very (very) secure sign-in because of the purchasing information provided by consumers.
Take a deep breath and back-off.
I read and knit and dance. Compulsively feel yarn. Consume books. Darn tights. Drink too much caffiene. All that good stuff.

Melissa, I'm sorry you feel that way, but I don't think I said anything that out of line. This may be the first time that you have had the problem, but I have had it on previous occasions, as well, and Jon was aware of it then, because he posted the same instructions for getting around it. But this upgrade took place a while ago, now, and there have been many problems since then, so I don't think it is that outrageous of us to be frustrated, especially when there is a problem, and then it is cleared up, and then it happens all over again.
I don't know - is it preferable for us to stay and complain about our frustration, or for us just to give up and leave? I'd rather stay - I would miss the people I have come to know and of course the discussions.
