Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

As usual, analysts have no freaking clue what they're talking about.

See the following link. Comscore does not include the Nook Color and Nook Tablet:

Re: Tablet Competition Heats Up

" Nook Tablet and Nook Color from its report. The reason? ComScore says those devices are e-readers, not tablets. Still, the import of the figures is clear: When consumers pick up Android tablets"

And the Kindle Fire Is? So the Nook Tablet clearly a more powerful tablet than the Fire and they have the gall to where blinders?

I would being a europe based enity would point out that since B&N is not a global player in content like the Fire would be more reason maybe? to exclude.

orb9220: And the Kindle Fire Is?

While the Nook Tablet is a tablet-like device, it is far from being a generalized tablet - far. One can argue that the Kindle Fire isn't a generalized tablet either; but with its (much) larger app store, its video store, its digital music store, and its ability to easily load other reading apps, it comes a lot closer to being a generalized tablet than the Nook ones do - a lot closer.

Re: Tablet Competition Heats Up

From a February 2012 Comscore article:

"The U.S. release of the Kindle Fire and NOOK Tablet was a critical turning point in the mass adoption of tablet devices, bringing to market the first tablets that combined an affordable price point with competitive specs anchored by a strong brand, already established distribution channels and major marketing dollars."

Interesting. B & N have been advertising a lot. So much so, I've found myself drolling at pictures of their new Nook Simpe Touch. But... being the ultra money-conservative person I am, I'm sticking with my first gen. Nook until it absolutely gives out on me.
