This is so, so sad.

What's keeping Barnes & Noble afloat?  Apparently badly written fanfic.

Yea, this is so disgusting! Imagine people reading this kind of trash.

Does anyone have a copy I can borrow?

Re: This is so, so sad.

What's sad to me is how many people don't realize it's badly written (they can't tell the difference or have never read good writing), and how many people know it's badly written and don't care, and don't bother to seek out better written books.

Re: This is so, so sad.

The one thing this series proves is that there is a market to sell erotica to a demographic of people who have never read erotica before.

Now if only there was a way to let them know that there actually is erotica that is well-written.

Amen to that. Its also disturbing to me that so many people are so proud of the fact that they've read all three books in the series and they think that it is an accomplishment. I guess I should be glad that people are reading.

Here's to my nice long F train ride with Tolstoy.

Did you know that the original title of "War and Peace" was "War -- What Is It Good For?"  It was Tolstoy's mistress that actually convinced him to rename the works "War and Peace".

Makes me wonder if there was something similar with the title for 50 Shades.  Any ideas?

The original title was "Master of the Universe".

As far as content is concerned, Fifty Shades is about 90% the same as the original fan fiction, and most of the changes are name changes (Edward to Christian, Bella to Ana, etc.)

The biggest change, of course, is that the author is no longer going by the name "Snowqueens Icedragon".
