Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone has done book tours with local book stores and librarys. And if you have, what approach do you use when requesting permission. If you bring your own books, what kind of monetary relationship do you strike up? Do you provide the promotional publicity, or share it with the book store?

Hey Daniel, I've been riding around town today on my bike handing out coupons good for free ebooks through the month of May and I stopped by the local library and talked to the librarian. She said they would be glad to have an author promoting his work if I did the advertising and scheduled it in advance. However, and this is a real big 'however', I cannot sell books at the promotion due to legal reasons having to do with the library being a public building. She recommended that I join a reading group and discuss one of my books (providing free copies to the participants). Unfortunately, I travel and live on the road, so being here for that type of a commitment is out of the question for me. Others might consider this approach though.
