What bookish blogs do you read?

[ Edited ]

These days almost everyone has a blog, and luckily for us, there are a lot of avid readers out there who started some great blogs reviewing the books that they read.  I encounter cool book bloggers on Twitter and elsewhere all the time, and in fact I know we've got some excellent bloggers among the members of our own community.  So I thought it'd be nice to have a thread where we recommend and discuss the bookish blogs that we read - in addition, of course, to Barnes&Noble.com's own blogs.

Some blogs from the community:

Our very own Melissa_W is the author of a great blog at http://balletbookworm.blogspot.com/ - she's on Twitter as @balletbookworm

Longtime Book Clubs member debbook has a very nicely designed book review blog at http://bookmagic418.blogspot.com/ - not sure if she's on Twitter, so debbook please stop by and say so if you are.

If you are into horror, TheEerieCoterie (also a member of the BN family) has an excellent blog reviewing a ton of great horrorific reads at http://eerie-coterie.blogspot.com/  - and I think our magician avatar looks decidedly creepier when recontextualized over there.

Another longtime community member, shesaxsensation, is one of the three reviews at this great YA lit blog: http://www.bambookreviews.blogspot.com/  - and you can follow them on Twitter at @briana_reads

Also a well known community member, Ryan_G has a blog named after one of our own ranks here (or rather, named after the kingdom named after that rank) at the Book Clubs and covers a number of fun literary topics at http://wordsmithonia.blogspot.com/ and can be found on Twitter as @wordsmithonia

Some blogs I discovered through Twitter (which may well belong to community members and I just haven't matched them up - so give me a shout if one of these is you! ) :

Deborah K, aka @beatccr on Twitter, has a great blog called Books, Movies, and Chinese Food.  A great combination!  Read it at http://books-movies-chinesefood.blogspot.com/ - her most recent review is The Christmas Lamp by Lori Copeland.

Beth F, aka @BethFishReads on Twitter, covers a great variety of books at her Beth Fish Reads blog, which you can find here:  http://bfishreads.blogspot.com/ - her most recent review is The Russian Hill Murders by Shirley Tallman.  I think I might pick that one up myself actually!

S. Krishna, @skrishna on Twitter, reads and reviews an amazing number of books and also does a lot of fun contests.  Her most recent review is about Mennonite in a Little Black Dress  by Rhoda Jansen.

Pam van Hylckam, aka @bookaliciouspam on Twitter, managed to snag one of the best domain names on the literary web! Her blog can be found at http://bookalicio.us/ and her last book review was onTempted

by P.C. Cast.

This is just a handful of the bookish blogs I've come across through working in the community here and on Twitter, and they're some of my favorites.  There are a ton of other great book blogs out there waiting to be discovered.  Please let us know what book blogs you are reading, what kind of books they are about and any other useful info, such as whether we can follow the blogger on Twitter as well. And I know many of you probably have bookish blogs you'd like to tell us about - so please do!

Re: What bookish blogs do you read?

Awww, thanks, Jon!  I guess I need to get my butt in gear and finish the stack of reviews languishing in the "draft" list :smileyhappy:  I've been a lazybones today due to my enforced snowday (if you live east of the Midwest, watch out! we got hammered and it's coming your way :smileysad: )

To add to Jon's list:

Deb (debbook) is on Twitter @bookmagicdeb if y'all want to say Hi!

Rebecca is @bookladysblog and blogs at http://www.thebookladysblog.com/ - she loved John Irving's latest, Last Night in Twisted River, and recently completed the "I (heart) the Spark" dare in which she had to read Nicholas Sparks's latest (her review is pretty funny).

Jen is @devourerofbooks and blogs at http://www.devourerofbooks.com/.  Her most recent review is of Her Mother's Daughter.

Rachel is @raychraych and is probably my most favorite sassy Canadian book blogger - http://www.booksidoneread.blogspot.com/. Check out her review of Madame Proust and the Kosher Kitchen (Canadian Edition)

My most favorite sassy Canadian knit blogger is Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, aka the Yarn Harlot.  Who also writes books (and occasionally blogs about writing amidst a messy house when she really wants to escape and knit).  And twitters @YarnHarlot.

Jenn is @jennsbookshelf and blogs at http://www.jennsbookshelves.com/.  She has a good mix of different types including a few reviews from a young Horrid Henry fan. :smileyhappy:

I have lots more but I'd rather not hog the page!!  My Google Reader is stuffed full (I should probably go read the posts) :smileyvery-happy:

Melissa W.
I read and knit and dance. Compulsively feel yarn. Consume books. Darn tights. Drink too much caffiene. All that good stuff.
