On Monday, the Times reported on the Coffee Party. The movement, which at the moment seems to mostly consist of a Facebook page, is a response to the Tea Party and “support[s] leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.” It’s a party that encourages cooperation in government--its slogan: “Wake Up and Stand Up.”
Inspired by the coffee partiers, Gawker’s Adrien Chen, yesterday, introduced six other “beverage-based parties.” Among them, the Monster Energy Drink Party, the Whiskey Party, and the Cherry Coke Party.
So, join the patriotic spirit. Create your own beverage-inspired party.
Here’s mine:
The Gatorade Party
Slogan: Life’s a sport. Less talk, more action.
Key Issues: Anti-Obesity; Health Care; Energy; Filibuster-reform
Mission Statement: We expect legislators to be breathless and sweaty after a day on the hill. The Gatorade Party stresses teamwork, training, preparation, competition and endurance. They criticize endless debate and procedural niceties that sustain the status quo. At the end of the game, there should be a winner. Therefore, rather than traditional filibuster rules, The Gatorade Party endorses an Eliminator round in the style of American Gladiators, to decide if a bill should reach a vote. The winner, of course, gets a Gatorade shower.

Thanks for the post. I heard about this party on CNN this morning. I love coffee & I like what they're saying. I think I'll join the cause.

Hmm this is what popped into my head.
Our revolution was caused by tea parties, dumping tea, and too much tax on tea. Tea became so that's British, that coffee became our national drink. (Yes I'm aware their was more to it, I'm simplifying.)
Now the French bloody revolution began in coffee salons.
