Righ Wing Going Crazy

I don't know if they changed their bottled water brand but some on the right are starting to sound a little crazy.

Michelle Bachman told your consituents to be "armed and dangerous" to fight against Obama policies.

Chuck Norris thinks we need a second American Revolution and that he wants to run for President of Texas, since Texas was never really part of the United States to begin with.

Newt Gingrich said we should preemptively shoot down North Korea missle with a laser.

Dan Itse, a New Hampshire lawmaker calls for secession if the federal Government doesn't stop overstepping its bounds.

I could contine with clips from Sean Hannity, more Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter and others.  However I think I get my point across, I really think the right wing has lost it's collective mind.

Re: Right Wing Going Crazy

Or you could look at it another way Ryan - it is the death throes of their Presidential campaign and they are now conceding that they are well and truly beat!:smileyhappy:

I wonder, did the Democrats ever make similarly wild threats when they were out of office?

Stop watching immediately Ryan. That's how they get you, first you watch for amusement, then horror, then they send subliminal messages to make you believe what they believe. Run!!

Re: Righ Wing Going Crazy

There's nothing surprising in any of that.  Both wings of the political spectrum get crazy from time to time.

A year ago you could have quoted a number of equally silly and outrageous things being said by the left wing, by Olbermann and the Huffington Post and Truthout and Move On and other far left viewpoints.

Come join those of us in the center where we can laugh at the absurdities of extremes on both ends of the political spectrum while taking none of it seriously.

What Democrat politician told their consituiants to be armed and ready?  What Democratic state legislator introdced a bill to advocate for the seceeding from the Union?  I think this is a new level of crazy belonging to the Right all by themselves.

The craziness of the left is not the same as the craziness of the right.    They each have their own brand of craziness.

Re: Righ Wing Going Crazy

The difference is that those of us on the left look at what the Rights is saying right now and shake our heads in wonder and maybe give a little chuckle because we know most people aren't going to take this stuff seriously.  Now if the roles were reversed and we had Democratic state lawmakers calling for their states to cede frome the Union and had Democratic Congressman tell thier consituints to take up arms and be ready to fight back agianst a Republican administraton these same people on the Right would be calling those on the Left Un-American, Un-Patriotic, and Traitors.  They would be yelling at the top of their lungs for us to get out the country since we don't love it enough.

If as you say now, the craziness of the left is not the same as the craziness of the right, then obviously it would not be germane to the discussion of the extremes of craziness exhibited by the right, except as a red herring.

Re: Righ Wing Going Crazy

They would be yelling at the top of their lungs for us to get out the country since we don't love it enough.

That's sort of funny, since it was prominent left wingers who were publicly vowing (unfortunately falsely for the most part, as it turned out) that they were going to leave the country if certain Republicans got elected, whereas I don't recall  any prominent right wingers promising to leave the country if Obama got elected.

Re: Righ Wing Going Crazy

I'm sorry you didn't understand me.  I'll try to make it clearer for you.

The precise things that the left is silly and crazy about are different things than the right is crazy and silly about.

But since both are equally silly and crazy in their own ways, it's certainly germane to a discussion of the craziness of the right to point out that there is an equal amount of craziness on the left.  Otherwise, one is left with the erroneous impression that only the right is crazy, which is totally inaccurate.

That was the point. I thought I had made it clear; sorry I didn't make it clear enough for you.

Yes I suppose you could say it's a "seperate but equal" craziness.

Re: Righ Wing Going Crazy

I think the underlying problem of the modern Republican Party is an adherence to inflexible ethical or moral doctrines. This is not to say that one cannot have principles or values to help guide actions or shape beliefs; no, I am against the idea of making arguments or political issues into moral issues. Once that happens, an issue becomes black or white, right or wrong to the point that the very act of debate becomes a futile gesture.

Re: Right Wing Going Crazy

Well I heard this radio broadcast of a Fox News Radio interview with Pastor Wiley Drake who is praying for the death of President Obama.  I find the vitriol coming from the right a little interesting in that it seems to be a little more personal this time.

Re: Right Wing Going Crazy

[ Edited ]

You may think that people like Newt Gingrich or Dan Itse are crazy, but why wouldn't we shoot down a North Korean missile if it is aimed at U.S. Territories or our allies(ie. Japan). In fact that is exactly what the Robert Gates and the Obama administration are preparing for now. Funny how your post 2 months ago about this idea doesn't sound so 'crazy' especially in light of the fact N. Korea just finished two underground atomic bomb tests, and their last "satellite" launch was actually a weakly veiled long range missile test, which if they ever get it right, would put the American Midwest in range. The real crazy people are the people running North Korea, not only is there a real threat of them having viable Nuclear capability but also Nuclear Proliferation, as they are just as likely to sell their 'products' to any lunatic with money enough to buy them. If you or anyone thinks that N. Korea is just going to somehow see the light and fall into line and play nice with Obama's lets sit down and sing Kumbaya and hold hands strategy, they are either severally naive or dumb. Credit to the administration now as it looks like it may take the kids gloves off and put our security first over the want for everyone to like us.

To touch on the Dan Itse comment, well you would of called our Forefathers crazy as well too I suppose. As they were calling for the exact same thing some 200 years earlier when the British government was overstepping it's bounds. Luckily we in the US have a more representative government then the colonists had, beside the fact that once in office Democrats and Republicans nowadays seem rarely to vote based on the people's will and vote more to further whatever agenda they are pushing. Since I already have a wall of text I will not list all the things happening currently or have happened since the new deal that are unconstitutional, from taking over the banking industry to car companies, from trying to control peoples incomes and appointing Czars to nationalizing health care. Those are just a few things were government is overstepping it's bounds, and in the last months under the Obama administration it's been happening at an alarming rate.

No one overstepped the consitution like George Bush. These governors didn't want to secede then. It's just usual political malarky. Obviously we can't invade every country that hates us. If our Allies are so worried, they should feel free to follow Newt's advice.

Re: Right Wing Going Crazy

Well since the missles being deployed to Hawaii are only there to shoot North Korea's missle down if it is aimed at Hawaii, I'm not sure how that is the same as what Newt Gingrich said.  Since he wanted to shoot down a missle aimed into outerspace.

I'm going to assume you are more knowledgable about the Constitution than I am so I'm going to ask for specifics.  What article of the Constitution is being broken by the auto and banking industry bailouts.  Now I may not like the bailouts but I'm not sure they are unconstitutional.  The same question goes to having a national health care system.  What article of the Constitution does that violate?
