This goes right back to what we were talking about on the thread about relationships but when I read the epilogue, honestly, I was almost more interested to see what happened with Jacob than I was with Bella and Edward. Bella and Edward are obviously obsessed with each other so, in my mind, that future seems all but cemented but Jacob – what's going to happen to him?
Wouldn't that make a great novel – the adventures of Jacob – after Meyer is done with her Twilight saga?

Yes, Leah's whole story would be awesome. I don't know if you've read Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake sequence but she did a comparable spin-off with the novel Micah, which concentrated on a major character's past from the series, the wereleopard Michah. (The link to the book is below.) So, yes, if Meyer is so inclined, she could write about characters from the series for years to come! (Stephenie, I hope you're reading this!)

The Barnes & Noble Review
Tough-as-nails vampire executioner and necromancer Anita Blake is back and hotter than ever in Laurell K. Hamilton's newest, Micah -- her first Vampire Hunter original paperback release in almost a decade. This stand-alone novel explores the hunky wereleopard Micah's mysterious past and his increasingly intense and complex relationship with Anita.
When one of Anita's friends, federal marshal and fellow necromancer Larry Kirkland, is called away because of a family emergency, Anita is forced to fill in for a reanimation in Philadelphia involving a federal witness who died of a heart attack before he could testify in court. As Anita has an irrational fear of flying, one of Anita's lovers, Micah Callahan -- a lethally attractive wereleopard with mesmerizing chartreuse eyes -- volunteers to accompany her to the City of Brotherly Love for the nocturnal zombie raising. Far away from St. Louis and Anita's bevy of supernatural lovers, she and Micah get to share some intimate one-on-one time with powerfully moving results. After (ahem!) raising a little hell in the hotel room, Anita travels to the Philadelphia cemetery to raise the dead -- only to be faced with her wildest, most unexpected zombie reanimation to date…
Addictively readable and downright erotic, this enlightening glimpse into Micah's past -- and future with his oversexed leopard queen -- will surely be a lip-smacking treat for the millions of ravenous Anita Blake fans. Highly recommended -- as is an ice-cold shower afterward. Paul Goat Allen

That sounds like what will probably happen (and what most readers probably want) but I don't know how Jacob will react to it all. I mean, doesn't he epilogue make you wonder? I still think that there's going to be a huge twist in the Jacob plot thread in the fourth book...

Well, LKH's Anita Blake novels are very much more "adult" than the Twilight saga. The link to my review of Incubus Dreams is below to give you a little more of an insight into this realm...(There is also a really interesting interview that I did with Laurell under "Interviews and Essays.) When this series first started out, it was very comparable to the Meyer novels – courageous female protagonist with a vampire as a boyfriend also must deal with the growing relationship with another man, this one a werewolf. The Anita Blake novels are action-packed, wildly entertaining and obviously have a lot more sexual content than the Meyer's saga; especially the last two or three installments, which have gotten to be almost like softcore porn.
But, sexual acrobatics aside, if you like paranormal fantasy, Laurell K. Hamilton literally wrote the book on the genre. This series really is historically significant – without the popularity of the Anita Blake novels, novels like Meyer's Eclipse would've had a much more difficult time getting published and marketed...
And Joy, yes, I would definitely start at the beginning, which if memory serves is Guilty Pleasures.

From Our Editors
The Barnes & Noble Review
Devout followers of Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake saga who think that they have the sexy vampire executioner finally figured out are in for a big surprise in Incubus Dreams, the 12th -- and steamiest! -- installment in the wildly popular series.
Already metaphysically connected to master vampire Jean-Claude and to Richard, the Ulric of the St. Louis werewolf pack, Anita finds herself in another supernatural triumvirate, this one with the seductive, shape-shifting stripper Nathaniel and the beautiful bloodsucker Damian. With so many preternatural bonds, Anita finds herself struggling to come to grips with the potentially deadly disadvantages -- and the mind-blowing benefits -- of the complicated arrangement. As Anita is just beginning to understand how to utilize her newfound powers, a series of brutal strip club murders forces her to come face to face with her most terrifying foe to date: her own conscience.
Stylish, witty, breakneck paced, and filled with enough supernatural sensuality to surprise even the most hard-core fans, this novel, simply put, will blow readers away. As implausible as it may seem, after genre-transcending novels like Obsidian Butterfly, Narcissus in Chains, and Cerulean Sins, Hamilton has found an ingenious way to further complicate one of the most complex and compelling female characters in the history of speculative fiction.
While other series tend to lose energy -- and readership -- after numerous installments, Hamilton's saga is just hitting its stride with the 12th novel. After reading Incubus Dreams, Anita Blake fanatics all over the world will be rabidly waiting to sink their fangs into the next novel, to see what happens to the newly liberated and supernaturally enhanced vampire hunter. In a word: Wow! Paul Goat Allen

Vampires in the Twilight series cannot have babies. It just doesn't happen.
In these vampires, all bodily fliuds are replaced with venom. So if Edward and Bella did "do the deed", there could not be a child as a result. Edward would kill the egg instead of fertilize it.
Sorry if that comes across in the wrong way.
And if anyone wants more information, I suggest visiting the Twilight Lexicon (www.twilightlexicon.com). They have the answers to more questions than you could even dream of asking!

THe epilouge.....when Jake gets the wedding invitation? I don't know--it may either be a big scene OR maybe he'll just lurk around and watch from a distance.
Poor Jake. His pain is so raw. *hugs Jake*
