Does the epilogue change the way you feel about Jacob? Do you think it would change the way Bella feels about him?

I don't think it would change the way Bella feels - she is completely aware of how strongly Jacob feels about her...she is just in too deep with Edward at this point and even Edward is aware of that and I think undure to a point if he really is the one for her...? Did you read the outtakes on Stephenie Meyer's website from New Moon? It has great insight into Jacob's and Edward's feelings...incredible!

This goes right back to what we were talking about on the thread about relationships but when I read the epilogue, honestly, I was almost more interested to see what happened with Jacob than I was with Bella and Edward. Bella and Edward are obviously obsessed with each other so, in my mind, that future seems all but cemented but Jacob – what's going to happen to him?

Wouldn't that make a great novel – the adventures of Jacob – after Meyer is done with her Twilight saga?

Not only would Jacob's story be an amazing "spinoff", but I really want to know more about Leah and her life and feelings...I am very curious what she lands up doing without her love.

Yes, Leah's whole story would be awesome. I don't know if you've read Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake sequence but she did a comparable spin-off with the novel Micah, which concentrated on a major character's past from the series, the wereleopard Michah. (The link to the book is below.) So, yes, if Meyer is so inclined, she could write about characters from the series for years to come! (Stephenie, I hope you're reading this!)

I think that she is really starting to feel for Jacob, but that she is in too deep with Edward. I believe that she will stay human and decide to be friends with Jacob and still marry Edward.

That sounds like what will probably happen (and what most readers probably want) but I don't know how Jacob will react to it all. I mean, doesn't he epilogue make you wonder? I still think that there's going to be a huge twist in the Jacob plot thread in the fourth book...

I really see a foreshadowing of a Bella/Edward baby- with Rosalie's story and their whole "deal", it really looks like that's what it's all leading up to- Wouldn't it be interesting if Jacob "imprints" on Bella's baby?

Seriously, you don't see the potential? All the hints are there- the "deal" Bella and Edward made; the longing Rosalie has for a baby; and who is Jacob's friend who imprinted on a 2 year old? It could happen! I know it's a stretch-but it WOULD be very interesting...

Ok, Paul, now I am so curious about the Laurell K. Hamilton books- do I have to start at the beginning to follow the plot? They seem WAY more adult than the Meyer books- just judging by the covers...is there one you really recommend?

Well, LKH's Anita Blake novels are very much more "adult" than the Twilight saga. The link to my review of Incubus Dreams is below to give you a little more of an insight into this realm...(There is also a really interesting interview that I did with Laurell under "Interviews and Essays.) When this series first started out, it was very comparable to the Meyer novels – courageous female protagonist with a vampire as a boyfriend also must deal with the growing relationship with another man, this one a werewolf. The Anita Blake novels are action-packed, wildly entertaining and obviously have a lot more sexual content than the Meyer's saga; especially the last two or three installments, which have gotten to be almost like softcore porn.

But, sexual acrobatics aside, if you like paranormal fantasy, Laurell K. Hamilton literally wrote the book on the genre. This series really is historically significant – without the popularity of the Anita Blake novels, novels like Meyer's Eclipse would've had a much more difficult time getting published and marketed...

And Joy, yes, I would definitely start at the beginning, which if memory serves is Guilty Pleasures.

Ok, Paul, you're gonna get a real kick out of this- I went into my local library with 3 of my kids and asked the librarian about Laurell Hamilton. she almost passed out! She literally said (and I quote) "The Lord is watching what you read and He will not like you reading such books!!!" So my kids look up at me with their big brown eyes and said, "are you taking out that book, Mommy?" So, of course, I left without the book and came home to order it online where my kids and my very pious librarian can't criticize me!!

Hey! I was just reading this thread, and wanted to let you all know of a fact.

Vampires in the Twilight series cannot have babies. It just doesn't happen.

In these vampires, all bodily fliuds are replaced with venom. So if Edward and Bella did "do the deed", there could not be a child as a result. Edward would kill the egg instead of fertilize it.

Sorry if that comes across in the wrong way.

THe epilouge.....when Jake gets the wedding invitation? I don't know--it may either be a big scene OR maybe he'll just lurk around and watch from a distance.

I can imagine Jake staying wolf until the wedding, and maybe coming back because he realizes he needs closure, that Edward will care for Bella and he comes to grips with her choice. Maybe in the future Jake and Leah...?

Hi, I was just reading this thread and I have to tell you that I dont think Leah is right for Jake.. I feel very sorry for Jake and I am not sure how I feel about the wedding, but I do think Jake should be there for closure.. But I am not sure if Jake is there Bella will be able to go throught with it..

Yeah, I know Leah's character doesn't get much sympathy but I was just randomly thinking of those rare times when you see the good in someone after awhile even if you couldn't stand them at first I just keep trying to guess what the big plot twist in Breaking Dawn will be!

Ex- I got one of the early Anita Blakes (I thought it was the first in the series but I don't think it is now that I am reading it) and I have to say, it's not doing much for me at this point. Too many monsters- gouls, vampires, all sorts of zombies- who can keep track of it all? And it's irritating this whole world of the undead being part of American society- even in a fantasy sort of plot, that's pretty unbelievable!
Do they get better? Can i read "guilty pleasures" without all the others?
